Mothers Day

Today in the UK is, 'Mothers Day' formaly 'Mothering Sunday'.

Sons & Daughters show their appreciation to their Mothers.

Today, our house is full of flowers, cards, chocolates and some clothing from our sons & daughter to my dear wife.

I don't know if I've asked about todays event on the BB's before but, do you have a similar event in the States?

We celebrate Mother's Day in May. It's a very busy day for restaurants, florists, and the phone company.

Here in the Philippines, we also celebrate mother's day in the same day it is celebrated in the US. I guess that is one of the influences we got from the US. Currently, I'm clueless what to give my mom. Any suggestions?

balky, I don't know your mom, and I'm not sure how old you are, but I'm pretty sure she would appreciate something personal, like a photo, or if you live nearby, make her dinner for a change.

Since this is a classical music forum, you might get her a nice CD, cassette, or whatever format is preferred of classical music. If she has a collection, get her something nice to add to it. If not, get her one of those "classical greatest hits" compilations. I bought a 10 CD set for $10 that offers some nice performances, and includes some works I wasn't familiar with. Anything involving a meal I don't have to cook, or serve, or clean up after, is a hit. Add a nice CD and a flower and it's a home run.

If you have the money, dinner out is wonderful. If you're a poor student, bring take-out or cook for her (but be sure to clean up the kitchen properly afterward!).
