Yikes. Are you east coasters mounting outboard motors on the bumpers of the cars, just in case? Or at least carrying an inflatable canoe in the trunk?

Sandy Eggo is still humid and overcast; feels more like the Midwest than it does San Diego. :( On the upside, my tomatos seem to like it.

we were predicted rain Sunday night and all day Monday - curiously, the front stayed mostly on the east side of the city of Rochester - thus, my parents got wet, but we hadn't gotten more than a drizzle until about 12:30 today. Big thunderstorm went through while I was eating lunch. Got to watch the few people who didn't think it was actually going to rain run inside from their seats in the courtyard.

btw - I think I"m posting about the same - more when I'm less busy, but usually about one a day (Mon-Thurs when I work).

Flooded subway stations and underpasses all around DC on Sunday, not cleared out on Monday, and there's a dam that's threatening to let go in Maryland, north of DC.

My back yard is quite muddy, and I discovered a disturbing drainage issue. I knew it held puddles, but this time there was enough water for it to find an exit, which turned out to be the stairwell leading to my basement. Fortunately, that has a drain that goes into my sump (which I've written about ad infinitum under the "projects" topic). We haven't had any significant power problems (blinking 12:00 on the VCRs, but nothing that lasted more than a few seconds and some "protection" lights on surge protectors) so the pump continues to function adequately.

But it appears that I have another project ahead of me - install drains in the back yard. That spring house may not be done until next spring.

In CT it's not as bad as those south of us, but it's raining all the time. It's steady but not heavy. My subpump is working over time and the roof started leaking in my rental property - that'll be fun to fix.

Rumblings of a storm in Toronto right now ... but most often the rain goes around us to the South or to the North- likely will tonight. We are often stuck with muggy, steamy, cloying, horrible heat... We are planning to sail across Lake Ontario to Niagara- on-the-Lake on Friday. Last year we watched ligthning strike a sailboat tied up at the Yacht club - people on board were not even aware of it....

Pretty decent this morning around DC, but they're forecasting Tstorms for the evening commute.

So I caused a thunderstorm today - didn't bring my umbrella and left the car windows open a crack. Hoping it heats back up quickly so the car seat is mostly dry when I go home.
