Per that website:

Foods that should "not" be part of MMDD
Although some of the foods that I am about to list may sound like a tempting addition to your meal -- they should never be part of "National Men Make Dinner Day":

chewing gum
cotton candy
take-out pizza
pogos
left-overs from last night
sandwiches from office vending machine
neighbors left-overs from last night
anything bar-b-qued

We offered you an opportunity back in the late 1700's and you demurred. Hoist your own pots and pans!

I heard our local classical radio station host here in SF talk about MMDD on the radio while I was driving home on Wednesday. So apparently it is getting around. I don't mind cooking (ever)...its the clean-up I dislike

I don't mind cooking either. Nor do I mind doing dishes.

It's vacuuming that I don't enjoy!

Aren't men into grilling? What's wrong with throwing a slab of meat on the grill or roasting it over a campfire, just like old times (B.C.)?

Yes serenity...we are into grilling big time. No veggies and portabella's here...must be slab O' meat.

Smoking is another thing we do. This is even better than grilling because it is cooked in the following manner:

- set the smoker fire,
- add the racks of meat (poultry, ribs, tri-tip etc.),
- cover it and
- sit have a beer,
- sit have a beer,
- more sitting..more beer and then,
- after about 6-8 hours, its ready (and so are we).

Husband probably did make dinner last Thursday. I pick up Pumpkin on Tues and Thurs, so he generally has at least started dinner before we get home. His cooking skills were forcibly expanded when Pumpkin was an infant as he tended to decide that as soon as we said, 'what do you want for dinner, I'm hungry', it was time for him to eat too - so I'd give directions from the living room rocker while husband would cook.

Nothing too fancy, but he can throw some teryiaki sauce on meat (pork tenderloin, salmon, eg.), make a box of pasta and zap some frozen veggies. A step up from spagetti, mac & cheese and frozen pizza, which was the extent of his repetoire pre-marriage. We both grill - here in the north we got the George Forman grill (with removable plates) for cold weather grilling (or when we run out of propane). 'Course I only get fancy occaisionally - hard with a little one around. At least Pumpkin is adventurous - will try most things and is a great veggie and fruit eater! Meat is sometimes an issue, but chicken nuggets and hummus are good fillers (not generally together, but once he did dip...).
