I remember twisting my ankle so bad many years ago it requried a trip to the ER.

The person who drove me was assisting me into the entrance of the ER.
There were Nurses, Drs... etc.... empty wheelchairs....

As soon as we walked/limped in.... no-one did anything.. let us go down this

I was at the doctor yesterday, got sent down to the vampires as usual for the usual bloodwork and the happy moron who drew my blood was sure she could use the right elbow. I told her I have three wiggly substandard veins on the right arm and one nice big vein on the left arm and that she should use the left. Nevertheless, since her station was set up for right arms she tried the right arm instead of moving her chair.

I heal quickly. It's a good thing. She eventually gave up and used the left arm.

I had the same thing happen to me when I was in the Navy. The corpsman was all apologetic when, after three tries, he had to give up and use the left arm, but I did warn him. "I can always get blood." He told me.

I told him the arm was a prosthesis. "Looks realistic, huh?" I don't think he fell for it. :D

Radio ads from local jewelry stores in Sandy Eggo seem to be having some problems, lately. There's one store that the announcer says is on "Camino de la Reina Road". No. It's Camino de la Reina. Camino means Road. If you wanted to translate it, you'd say "Queen's Road".

Another store talks about the lovely custom pieces created by their artesian craftsmen. I'd worry about a craftsman that flows freely due to a pressurized aquifer, myself - and go looking for a store with some honest artisans.

Maybe they're importing their craftsmen from Artesia? :)

I'm not sure if this belongs here on Pet Peeves, or on Recipes, or maybe on Fix Your Job - but here goes.

I just grossed out an engineer. He's young, vegan, Organic, Very Green, and a PETA person. My breakfast this morning was braunschweiger and jalapeno jelly on Ritz. Meat - liver even!- and refined sugar and refined flour and salt and preservatives and Oh Dear!

The reason this landed in Pet Peeves was the knee-jerk sermon the twit launched into concerning the immorality of my dietary preferences. In my cube. I handed him his head and sent him on his way. I hope he chokes on his organic tofu on tree bark sandwiches. Hrrumph!

BTW, my cat likes the braunschweiger and the Ritz, too. Doesn't care for the jalapeno jelly.

Apparently keeping pets is immoral, too.

They're called 'companion animals' now. You don't own them, they are somehow equal to you (although I've yet to have any of my 'companion animals' cough up the money to pay for the food they eat!)

OMG...this has PETA written all over it. Sheesh Try telling the person, whom your dog just bit, that you don't "own" it....it's just a companion.

Yup. Poor cats, deprived of their natural rights and freedoms. Probably asleep on my bed, right now. Oh, the abuse!

Had a phone call from an engineer I worked with in the cal lab, maybe 20 years ago now, about The Vegan Twit. Twit is still in shock and is being laughed at by his neighbors. I must not have been the first person he annoyed.

I'm (not) sorry to say I was partly responsible for the murder of turkey, who wound up as turkey sausage in my breakfast soufle this morning.

I'm sure he had a more humane death than the pour coffee beans, those unborn children of the coffee plant, boiled in water for my drinking pleasure... Mwahaaahaaahaaaaa!

I prefer liverwurst and bacon, that way I get my nitrates and nitrites in addition to the other good stuff.
"The Vegan Twits" - sounds like a rock band. Thanks DaveBarry!

Oh man, Selma. Did you happen to record your response? I'd have loved to hear it. It'd be a chart topper.

BTW, I hate liver. :barf:

While I also hate liver, braunschwieger tastes and feels nothing like that.

I had some dead cow, and a few tangerine fetuses at lunch.

My word, we're a heartless bunch. The Vegan Twit must've calmed down eventually because I haven't had any updates about him lately. I don't suppose he'll change his opinions but he might learn how to not share them so freely.

Mention to him that you were greatly offended by his bigotry against your personal religious beliefs regarding eating meat and that you will be reporting him to HR for expressing his bigotry in such an insulting manner. Turnabout’s fair play.

We are jagular free at home, but have a serious epidemic of heffalumps and woozles. Especially woozles. I'm informed that the little ones are friendly but that the big ones want to eat us up.

"Jagwire" will get you escorted to the door. Mon pere owns a 1956 convertable. Its been his baby longer than I have been.
