Gary Duer... election history, Cat. Did most of the crying Manitobans not show up to vote, then?

I think it was a 58% of eligible voter turnout.

Pretty poor, IMO.

If you live in a democratic society, that number should be at least between 80% and 90%.

Shame on the people who did not use their voting rights.

Voter turnout is always poor, I am afraid, Cat. It is part of our democratic right: to vote or not vote.

I just wish there were more people who chose to vote. Vote for someone at least! If you don't like the traditional main political parties, why not the Green Party? Marijuana party? Communist Party?

Here's a pet peeve: people who say "You need to" when they actually mean "I'd like you to". Why do they think that I need to make their lives easier? Why do they never need to make my life easier?

I once had a straight-speaking Cockney boss who would say "I'll get you to..." in that context.
And then there are the over-polite ones who say "Could you...?" when they mean "Will you...?"

My mother says "I wanted you to..." (past tense) when she WANTS you to (now or soon). :curse:

My ex uses "always" and "never" when the reality is "sometimes" or "rarely". :curse:

Hilarious! Kinda reminds me of some of the dialogue from "Office Space" (movie). Yeeeaaahh, weellll, I'm gonna need those TPS reports from you real soon:
#############
Dom Portwood: Hi, Peter. What's happening? We need to talk about your TPS reports.
Peter Gibbons: Yeah. The coversheet. I know, I know. Uh, Bill talked to me about it.
Dom Portwood: Yeah. Did you get that memo?
Peter Gibbons: Yeah. I got the memo. And I understand the policy. And the problem is just that I forgot the one time. And I've already taken care of it so it's not even really a problem anymore.
Dom Portwood: Ah! Yeah. It's just we're putting new coversheets on all the TPS reports before they go out now. So if you could go ahead and try to remember to do that from now on, that'd be great. All right!

re: food scavaging....

I've never seen the vultures hoving outside of meetings, but we do get some remnants from meetings at our secretary's desk from time to time. I figure my scavaging is related to the many years in college and grad school when I didn't have much money and free food was NEVER passed up. I headed an organization in grad school one year and quickly discovered that getting more than a few people to a meeting required ordering food. Grad students will go to anything if they can get a couple of slices of pizza....

I tried to request some music using the 'request' button but, instead of getting the request form, I 'won the hourly prize'. I clicked on the 'x' to get rid of the window, but it took me to another site.

I don't want an ipod, I want to hear J.C. Bach's Bassoon Concerto!

I decided to request it by sending an e-mail and avoid the 'request' button altogether. I hope they received the request.

Anywhere unique is used to describe something that was series produced. Unless you bought up the production run and destroyed the rest, there is a really good chance it ain't unique!
