World AIDS Day

Postby Nicole Marie » Mon Dec 01, 2003 12:20 pm

Today is World AIDS Day. The best thing you can do is get informed and make a donation. Find a local AIDS chapter in your area and get involved, give money or time. Visit: http://www.worldaidsday.org/

Remember 5 people die every minute from AIDS.

Good for you for saying, NM. I give monthly to AIDS organizations and have done so for 10 years. It is probably time I started to give something to World Aids.

Excellent Marye! I also forgot to mention the concert tonight in South Africa 46664. It's the biggest benefit concert/gathering for today. Go on line for TV time's to tune in (MTV tonight at 6PM EST will show the concert.) And you can donate online as well. http://46664.tiscali.com/

FYI: 46664 is the number assigned to Nelson Mandella when he was in prison. He made a great statement once about how he was reduced to a number while in prison and drew a great comparision to AIDS reducing people to a number.

I don't know if this happens in other cities, but Tuesday in St. Louis is "Dine Out" night, in which participating restaurants donate at least 25% of their proceeds from that day to World AIDS. It's a great opportunity to not only contribute to the cause, but to find some great local spots that otherwise are "under the radar," so to speak.

If this isn't in other cities, then by golly, someone should start it! And if it is, then I encourage all of you to go out and stuff yourselves!
