So, what was your best gift of the season? I got a very nice rolling briefcase / laptop case. Takes big load off my aching neck

Hummm...a little bit of a hijack here, but sounds like fun. Bonnie (wife) got me several things each of which I really really like. item 1 - Bose acousticmass speaker system for the living room (those little cube speakers instead of my big old huge Polk audio boxes) Item 2 - a new "airsource" for my BC (takes the place of an "octopus" regulator for scuba diving), Item 3. - a new external underwater strobe light for my dive camera.

How would you characterize the sound from those speakers?

Can you see the cone, do they have unusually long throw?

To make small speakers move enough air to perform in the low range must be quite a trick. What has Bose come up with now?

I'm a traditionalist, still got big drivers in big boxes. Curious about how they're doing it with these tiny high tech systems....

They are fine for "easy listening" as we do in the living room/dining room when entertaining. They do not push as much volume of music as my Polks. I would recommend them for computer speakers, or for a simple sound system for a bedroom/dining room etc. If you are looking to pull out every nuance of sound from a classical piece, they just don't have the mass to do it. However, they produce a remarkably rich sound given the size etc.

Well, my Beethoven radio mate, I would like to take a moment and wish you a well over the Holidays.
I would also like to thank you all for your outstanding music that you request everyday. I am always listening and hardly feel the need to request a song, because at some point during the day, one of you will request it for me.

Nichole and Beethoven.com fans has become such a part of my day, that when it isn’t on, the silence is maddening. (in short I miss you when your gone)

Whatever you call the reason you gather together and share your love at this time of year, may it be the best one so far, and the worst of those yet to come.

Alas, my ability to stream at work is spotty at best, so I listen when I can, and wish I could when I can't.

The great thing about enjoying Christmas in New England is that it's snowy like the North Pole (where Santa lives and works)! Today we had a snow storm....here's a video to give you the feel, although this car is going way to fast and the roads are way too desolate!.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sZP2Y9AQ3yU

Merry Christmas, Happy Hannukah, Happy Kwanzaa, Feliz Navidad, Happy Time-Off-Work, etc. :santa:

I took the day off work today when we were expecting a foot of snow. I "procured" all kids' Christmas gifts last weekend and wrapped them all last Sunday night. I'm ahead of the game  but tomorrow I'll spend a big chunk of time shoveling snow around the house.....Ohh!...and by the way....Beethoven Radio is like Rudolph's nose glowing on Christmas Eve for Santa!

MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR TO YOU ALL!

THANK you! I get so tired of tip toeing around the holiday with "Happy Holiday wishes. It reminds me of this perenial favorite holiday wish:

Please accept with no obligation, implied or implicit, my best wishes for an
environmentally conscious, socially responsible, low stress, non-addictive, gender
neutral, celebration of the winter solstice holiday, practiced within the most enjoyable
traditions of the religious persuasion of your choice, or secular practices of your
choice, with respect for the religious/secular persuasions and/or traditions of others,
or their choice not to practice religious or secular traditions at all and a fiscally
successful, personally fulfilling and medically uncomplicated recognition of the onset
of the generally accepted calendar year 2009, but not without due respect for the
calendars of choice of other cultures whose contributions to society have helped make
America great (not to imply that America is necessarily greater than any other country
or is the only "AMERICA" in the western hemisphere), and without regard to the
race, creed, color, age, physical disability, religious faith, choice of computer platform,
or sexual preference of the wishee.

Legal Disclaimer: By accepting this agreement, you are accepting these terms.

This greeting is subject to clarification or withdrawal. It is freely transferable with no
alteration to the original greeting. It implies no promise by the wisher to actually
implement any of the wishes for her/himself or others, and is void where prohibited by
law, and is revocable at the sole discretion of the wisher.

This wish is warranted to perform as expected within the usual application of good
tidings for a period of one year, or until the issuance of a subsequent holiday greeting,
whichever comes first, and warranty is limited to replacement of this wish or issuance
of a new wish at the sole discretion of the wisher.

Sincerely,

(Name withheld for legal, social and cultural considerations.)

Good one, jamie!

Serenity, you are going to tell me that the photographer in that car was adjusting the speed of his camera, aren't you? Please! Otherwise I'll have to avoid New England in the winter, and probably at other times as well.

I'll probably avoid it in the winter anyway. I don't have the clothing for that sort of weather.

I like the politically correct season's greetings, Jamie. I hadn't seen it before. My wife kills herself being Santa Claus each year. She literally becomes very ill the first 2 weeks of January because of it. I try to convince her she's too old to keep it up (70 next year), but to no avail. I would give up every December of my life to avoid Christmas and what it takes out of her physically.

He probably does, Shos. I'm not familiar with the make-up of Santa suits, and they certainly look like standard northern-hemisphere issue, but I believe they're actually made from the sort of material sports clothing is made from so that the wearer can remain reasonably cool. Air-conditioned shops help, too.

It wasn't always so, of course. Santa used to get very hot & sweaty, and I have heard that some of them wore nothing whatever under the suit.
