Is what's played overnight pre-determined, or do requests work late in the night? (I stay up late listening to the music)

I think the "Mr. Sincere" show is canned, as there's never anybody in the camera view. I don't know about the host between Mr. Sincere and Eric but it's another logical place to put computerized prerecordings.

Three shows during the day are live: Eric, Dan, and Nicole Marie. I don't know if requests that can't be filled during the day are played in the evening (East coast time), but I'm sure if you noted in your request that you wanted it played at a particular time, they would try to honor that. I don't know how long in advance they program those shows, so it might not be on the same day.

The weekend shows are also prerecorded, but if you have a request that takes much over 20 minutes, you could also ask that it be played on Saturday or Sunday.

Good luck, and if I had not done so before, welcome to the pit!

I rarely request anything at night, but I have not had any problems. I work the 'Graveyard' shift (fewer bosses, easier commute) and listen to Beethoven.com all night.

I really don't have to request anything because the library of music is such that I am usually very happy with the result. I recently heard Gershwin's 'Rhapsody in Blue' with a trumpet instead of piano...interesting. Also - I listening to him now - I enjoy the amount of Copland works that are played. Copland, IMHO, is very underrated in this country.

You guys are doing a great job.

Ok, here is a specific request. I am new to this site/group so not sure how soon after the request something will get played. But here goes.

Jean Sibelius

Conerto For Violin And Orchestra In D Minor, Op. 47

Specifically as performed by Anne-Sophie Mutter.

Truly beautiful piece, especially in her hands. She is an angel with the bow.

Thank you

Have to agree Stever, Copland is very underrated.

I would be very interested in hearing Gershwins RiB played on trumpet. I am curious, was it a solo trumpet or was it a larger ensemble with a trumpet playing the lead voice? Sounds intriguing either way, although i would like to hear the latter.

LHuffman:
Just fire off a request to the 'staff'. They're very knowledgable, and very friendly. I am sure one of them knows the piece I was listening to.

Welcome aboard.

The easiest way is to hit the "requests" button just above the advertisement at the left side of the window. As far as I know, it's on every page at beethoven.com. Another way is to send an email to requests@beethoven.com. There's no real guarantee they'll play the request, since their music library is finite. If it turns out they don't have the piece, they are amenable to getting CDs and playing them, if you are in a mood to share. I've sent in three myself, two of which get fairly regular plays.

Agreed. And, if you get the chance to actually attend a concert or recital, a lot of fun to watch as well.

No, I am not related to the Voice talent...he is famous for his "Sunday! Sunday! Sunday!" announcements for monster truck and tractor pull events. lol.

I did get a phone call for him once. I lived in Huntington Beach and he lives in Newport Beach. Someone looked up the number and called me. They asked if I was Larry Huffman and proceeded to cuss me out and demand money back. As it turns out, the voice-Larry had evidently according to this fellow he had hired him for a speaking engagement and he wanted his money back.

As for Anne-Sophie Mutter, I have been watching for her to come to town. I would love to see her play in person. She is my daughter's hero.

It's a recognizable name for an old SoCal resident. I lived in either Orange or Anaheim from 1959 until 2001.

BTW, I saw Anne-Sophie Mutter at the Orange Country Performing Arts Center with the Pacific Symphony. No idea if she'll be returning, but those concerts are something I miss a heck of a lot. Not that there aren't excellent orchestras in the DC area, but the PSO was quite accessible to me, and the Kennedy Center is almost like going to Los Angeles would be for you - strictly a special occasion.

They do play requests. They must get a lot. They recently played my request 1.5 days later. Usually, with a live staff, they play requests fairly quickly. I even get an e-mail saying when it's coming up. Mr Sincere, though, he's "far too busy for that"

Hmmm... I had it here a minute ago...

Actually, I tracked it down, OT. It just needs to be entered into our Now Playing database correctly now...

Thank you so much for playing that piece!

:D

I'm contiually amazed by the fact of that composistion predating Beethoven by a generation. I feel it's one of the truly great choral works in history.

Beethoven felt pretty good about him as well.
