Need your help with a song

Postby Jimmy Wilson » Mon Jan 22, 2001 10:28 am

Ok, I am looking for the name of a song and the composer. Here is a description, hopefully you will be able to help. To me, it is the perfect classical war song. Slow instrumentals to strong/dark choral parts. It can be heard in a number of commercials on tv nowadays, including ones for EA Sports. I was told by someone that it was from the glory soundtrack, but after buying it I discoverd that it isn't. The choral parts do sound similar however. Please help if you can, and yes I know this isn't terribly helpful.

Jimmy, Gonna take a wild guess an say it's O Fortuna by Carl Orff(1895-1982). The vocals are in Latin. I vaguely recall this music used in the movie Damien. There is a recording of it on "Summon the Heroes" by John Williams & the Boston Pops. Shos, what d' ya think?

Hi Leslie. Last night when I read your note, I thought "What a great guess". I was going to write that this morning. In the meantime Jimmy confirmed your solution to his "mystery tune". So now I say "Congratulations!"
My disc of Williams and the Pops containing O Fortuna, is called The Sound of Glory, but not connected with the movie, Glory. By incredible coincidence, at 9:50 eastern Beethoven.com is playing O Fortuna.
Shos
Shos
