Happy Birthday Franz, name his best work.

Happy 210th Birthday to Franz Schubert. Master of the song, the mass and the unfinished symphony and of course Ave Maria.

I take issue with Franz, I always tend to remember the joyous music, that is the best legacy to leave. Happy memories always last.


Anyone have a favorite work of his.....love to hear the suggestions.

Happy Birthday Franz!

My favorite Schubert works are his Piano Trios, No. 1 and 2 and his "Death and the Maiden" String Quartet.

The 8th Symphony, which I've now heard for the 1st time this morning, is fantastic!

I like the his 5th Mozart symphony! :rofl:

Actually, I keep humming the tune of the Trout quintet these days...I love that!

I really enjoy the Wanderer Fantasie, March Militare and parts of Mass no 2 amongst others. Some of his symphonies were some of the first Romantic Era music I was exposed too, so dear old Franz holds a special place for me.

Also, I think his song the Little Rose is bit of a treat.

Always looking for more pieces to explore.

I haven't had enough exposure to a variety of Franz, but of what I am familiar with I love the Unfinished Symphony and a certain Octet (don't have time to get the name/numbers...maybe later).
