What is your favorite type of concerto?

I'll say violin concertos because well, violins are the BEST!!! lol and I LOVE Beethoven's Violin Concerto. I do like piano concertos a lot, too and Oboe concertos if they are played by a good "oboeist" (i don't think that's the correct spelling)......

Having already voted for piano, I read this post and realised - why choose? Concerto Grosso all the way. I absolutely adore Bach's concerto for flute, violin and harpsichord; the first movement is flawless.

I had voted for Piano Concerto when I first started this poll, but now violin concertos certainly rival it.

But I've yet to have good several listens to other types of concerto, in particular with the Cello.

You'll have to excuse me TM, because when I first put up that poll, I had just recently been introduced to the world of "Concertos or Concerti", and I wasn't quite aware of all the different types of concertos out there.

I forgot about some other important ones like trumpet, cello, horn, etc.

Fact for the day: Vivaldi's written a trumpet concerto!

One day I learn Saint-Saens wrote something for the oboe, and some days later that Vivaldi wrote something for the trumpet.

Didn't someone write a Tuba Concerto? RV Williams or Hindemith perhaps, who wrote a concerto or sonata for virtually almost every conceivable instrument!

They might have, but for some reason I never associated the oboe with late-Romantic and the trumpet with the Baroque eras.

Vaughn Williams did write a tuba concerto. I've never heard it, though.
