I know my dad will start purchasing mint sets and "Collect" these dollars....

If they're really serious about replacing the dollar bill, then they need to just stop printing them and make us use coins.

As long as we have a choice, we're going to stick with the greater convenience the bill offers us. We men in particular have grown accustomed to the billfold or wallet over the coin purse or pouch.

Surely if it were the cost savings they were concerned with, having a single design would surely save us an additional few million.

Also, since we are forbidden from having living persons depicted on our coinage, will Bush I, Clinton, Bush II, and Rudy possibly have their coinage release delayed until their death, or are we anticipating a change of the rules?

Aren't they producing 4 coins per year starting with G. Washington?

Yes, so We're about 10 years away from seeing Ronaldus Maxiums on a Coin. :( Unless, that is, they redesign yet another coin, and include him on one. I think the $20 Gold piece would be an excellent choice!

That means that Rudy, even if he does get re-elected in 2012 (and the Mayans are wrong about that end-of-the-world thing), will be out of office as well.

Since he has just passed away, I think we need a Gerald Ford "Whip Inflation Now" (WIN) dollar coin. Ironically, the dollar is worth less than half of what it was when he was in office.

So do Washington and Lincoln, but they still have a coin and a bill each. Now Washington'll have two coins and a bill...

Besides, It's a ship, not a boat! Carter got a boat. (So did Washington.)

Nicole,

I think we could easily get shed of the $1 bill if they would just stop making them and force us into the coin. Since they say the dollar's only worth about a quarter anyway, it kind of makes sense. I just don't think it'll happen as long as we have a choice between paper and coinage. It could turn around, though, if they'd come out with the right size - bigger than a quarter but smaller than a Kennedy Half (which were never very popular for general circulation, either).

The cowboys always break them open to empty them out, rather than untying them, so they've probably all run out by now. :D

A small boy swallowed some coins and was taken to the hospital. When his grandmother called to see how the boy was the nurse said "No change yet". :wink:
