It is the year 2014, and California's Governor J. Boydston has enacted a law that both deters crime and promotes cultural literacy. You are convicted and condemned to die on stage as a character in an opera. Which of the following roles do you choose?

Top Ten Arias

Postby hal 9000 » Tue Mar 13, 2007 7:54 pm

Let the next round begin! My list is prepared and will be sent to the first person to submit their own to me.

Please take some time to think of your favorite Top Ten Arias ( topic courtesy of bignaf).

List them in order of preference: this is all important to obtain meaningful results.

Submit that list to me via PM no later than Monday, March 19th, 2007 @ 6:00PM EST. I will compile the lists and release the results later that same evening.

Good luck and keep 'em coming!®

Tosca's got the best chance of bouncing, so that gets my vote.

Bad choice. Bouncing only means there will be an automatic encore!

very tough! too many crowded into my mind, so my list ended up being a pretty random selection of 10 of my favorite 25. should have limited by voice type... (then again other people have trouble from the other end [not knowing enough] so I guess this is a fair middle ground).

You will of course be using my list as the standard by which to judge all others.

Naturally. I wouldn't want to incur your wrath... no telling what role would await me for doing so! :P

HAL,

Can we include sacred arias in the list? Ie. Arias from sacred works including masses, requiems, oratorios, etc.? If so, I think I could probably come up with a Top 10, even though I may still if its just strictly Opera Arias.

The theme is intended to be operatic arias. As before, I recommend sticking with opera, but if you absolutely cannot come up with a list of 10 from this genre, including an aria from a sacred work is better than a ***no vote***.

Ok, thanks Hal. I'll do my best to stick to operatic arias. :)

If I vote for the Revenge Aria all ten times, does it only count as one. :D

Well, there's
Anaheim Stadium
Indianapolis Motor Speedway
Richmond Raceway
the old Briggs Stadium in Detroit
Wrigley Field
the Los Angeles Colliseum
the old Pan Pacific Auditorium
the old Ascot Park in Gardena
the old Los Angeles Sports Arena
Orange High School Gymnasium

Oh, nuts. Those are arenas. That's getting even with OT.
