I'm not quite finished with it yet, three chapters to go! I hope to finish it this evening, after the yard work is done.

I have to agree. So far it seems to be a much better book than any of the others, which is saying a lot.

Aaargh!! I can't believe it!! I was reading Harry Potter on the train, I was only 150 pages from the end, and when I got off the train I forgot the book!!! Curses! Zut! Zut alors!
And their lost property people haven't found it either... I wonder if somebody's nicked it...?

I finished it last night (The book, not the yard work). An excellent read! I agree with Saxy, it sets up the next book perfectly.

I can't wait to read it. I think I may borrow my cousin's copy since he went to the release party and has probably read it by now. I have vacation in the beginning of august so that will be my opportunity to not think or read medical stuff and focus on HP. So I guess I should stay away from the spoiler thread - very polite to separate the two! Now to contain my curiosity over this half-blood prince fellow...

Answer: The first soldier ever drafted was issued with ONE boot only, but being naive and inexperienced, unknowingly signed for 2. Later on, realising he would be held accountable for not handing back a complete pair on discharge day, he "borrowed" a pair from the next soldier drafted (who couldn't object or fight with his senior). The second soldier did the same to the one after him, and so forth...

We already discussed the book and had the thread deleted.

You know what I did that spoiled it a bit? I read really fast like I was racing at the end. You can't read the climax for the first time twice! I wish I'd taken my time.

Looking forward to the new book (Snape: Friend or Foe ??), but not attending any parties, nor standing in any lines at midnight. Sam's Club has historically had PLENTY of copies on display at any time. Stroll in, pick one up, stroll out (reading, of course), and get hit by car in the parking lot. Use "repairo" spell on broken body.

I pre-ordered the book. At the last party, those who pre-ordered were given numbers when they arrived, after midnight, they began calling the numbers. People picked up the books as their number was called (they were called in groups, so there was a bit of a line).

In any case, Cape Girardeau ain't St. Louis or New York, so the line won't be as bad as it would be at some of the bigger locations. Although I'm sure they have devised some method to move the line along faster at those stores, as well.
