I feel HAL is very near. About 80 light years away.

Actually........I'm about 80+ posts away from catching up to HAL, to move into the Top 10! :owned:

Then there's Dr. Chandra...

He's from 2010, correct? I may have to re-read 2001 and 2010. :)

Yes. 2010 also had several Russians in the cast of characters, and I'm sure on review I could come up with another ten names or so. I believe one of the proto-humans that the first monolith appeared to was called "Moonwatcher" in the book 2001: A Space Odyssey.
