He was my favorite for a long time.

Well, I shall now treasure my LPs of him. I don't think I've got anything on CD. And yes, O.T., he was my favourite too. At least since Benjamino Gigli.

It is very sad. The news here last night said he was not doing well, then as I
was driving into work this morning I heard the terrible news.

Yes - I will also treasure all my recordings with him.

We have lost a GIANT LEGEND.

While I thought his flair was bigger than his voice, his voice was huge. He probably did more to popularize opera than anyone else in the last thirty years.

My laser disks of the three tenors will be playing this evening.

I was profoundly saddened last night upon hearing the news. Our talk radio station played Nessun Dorma this AM (all the way through) and I must admit to having wet eyes. The world is a bit poorer today.

I haven't looked at any announcements on B.Com yet but I hope they might honor the man today during Vocal Four Play today. It would be nice to have an "all Pavarotti" hour.

Very sad to lose such a larger than life figure.

As a kid growing up in the '80's, I knew of the name Pavarotti even before the name Beethoven or Mozart. He was that famous. I came to know him as the greatest name ever in Opera. Perhaps that is or isn't the case, but that was the aura of the name Pavarotti.

I still remember the interview he had on 60 minutes about 20 years ago, and how engaging he was and his bright smile and striking eyes.

A great loss to the music community.

But on the bright side he gets to be with Joe Green and Jack Puccini now. Maybe he, Caruso, and Gigli can do a 3 tenors concert.

What a good idea. I wonder if anyone has the technical expertise, the equipment and the interest to mix some old records. It's been done for pop music, specifically re Nat King Cole & his daughter. Getting the tenors to sing together is probably impossible because of differences in interpretation; rubato, tempo, etc., but there could be a sequence of items as most of the 3 Tenors concerts were.

There have been many editorial cartoons honoring Pavarotti. This is one of the best.

I couldn't get the BBB to insert the picture - error message was "Images cannot be over 550 pixels wide." Which is quite strange, since I've been posting 640 pixel wide images on the projects board for years. This one is 600 pixels wide.

It's a setting, I think. There are also add-ons that can handle pictures of any size.

The BB is truncating a lot of things...particularly the right margin. I can't see who's logged on and some of the page indicators are not visable.

Fortunately the truncated links still seem to work.

You want something more geeky? Paste the link to a thread and it automatically makes a hyperlink with the thread title as link text. I've seen this happen in one forum that uses vBulletin.
