And now a word from our sponsor...

I thought I'd start this thread to talk about ads. I think we had one in the past, but I'm too lazy to look for it right now.

I am almost certain that the Safeguard commercial concerning credit card debt says "Talk to our representatives about Death Management. He seems to repeat the words 'Death Management" at least three times.

Granted, Death is one way to deal with credit card debt, but I don't think I want to sign on for their programme... :D

You sure that's not "Debt"? Sounds a lot like "death". In fact, they are closely related...

I was intrigued by the banner ad for Dr. Carol Williams playing the theme from Palladio. I visited her website and I see that she is a fan of the veneralbe Hammond Organ, and has an album of music performed on the Hammond. She also is an owner of a Hammond Concert organ.

Having worked for Hammond Organ Company many years ago, I found that fascinating.

I was going to start my own thread, but felt my rant best under this Subject.

Please, please, please tell me there are others out there who have had it up to here with the grandmother talking about Mystic, CT. I cringe whenever the commercial comes on. Her inflections are so innappropriate. It's almost as if someone handed there own grandmother the script and cut on the first take. SWIM?! With the Belugas? ARGH!

I can not wait until the contract with Old Mystic Village is up and I can listen to my wonderful beethoven.com and Nicole Marie in peace.

P.S. Student Prince...it's no longer Spring, Spring, Spring! Time for a new one from you too.

Hi lehavens,

I totally agree with you. I find those commercials annoying..... :barf:

But, alas, those companies are the ones paying for the advertising. :)

The Safeguard commercial was just on and the word "debt" does in fact get pronounced "death" every time it preceeds "management". Yup.

Death Management Specialist. A new career field.

I was listening very closelly, and I'm positive that he says 'death', and not 'debt. There's something very spooky about that....

At least they have a Sears ad, which makes sense to people who don't live in Connecticut.

I'll put up with the ads. If there was a way to send donations, I'd do that, but since there isn't, I'll wonder who coached the grandmother and who believes the guy hawking the free "money on the Internet" CD.

I agree with barfle.
I have often wondered what poor souls are calling about that free CD to earn thousands on the internet. I think what the sponsor failed to realize, is that listeners of beethoven.com are a bit higher in intelligence than the average radio listener. :D

Now I'm wondering if lehavens isn't a sock puppet created by Barfle just so he'll have a fan club! :D :D :D

<sigh> I know they pay the bills, but Old Mystic Village consider this, I turn the volume down every time I hear the commercial. Sorry, sad but true. Your advertising dollars are falling on def ears.

Belugas? Aren’t they artic whales? So wouldn’t swimming with them be a bit chilly?

Instead of swimming with the Belugas or artic whales, hopefully the Old Mystic Village commercial will soon be "swimming with da fishes"

I thought that line was "sleepin wit da fishes". May it be soon. May Mystic Village find a better commercial and pay B.com lots and lots of money to play the better commercial.
