Pieces a la Bach's "Air on the G String"

Postby barhab » Sun Sep 30, 2007 10:05 am

Hi honored forum,

I'm looking for classical pieces in the aforementioned style - which evoke the same kind of emotion .. but they seem hard to find. The only one I've found so far is Albinoni's "Adagio in G Minor".

Suggestions anyone? :)

Hello, Barhab. Welcome to the B.com BB!

You may want to try Barber's Adagio for Strings.

I'm also a fan of Faure's Pavane. I think it is a beautiful work.

A couple more by Bach:
Minuet in G
Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring.

Pachelbel's Canon

and all the rest that others are bound to add to this list. :D

ditto, Barhab...welcome to the board.

(are you a Procol Harum fan?....different genre, but add "A Whiter Shade of Pale" to this list. There is some controversy whether this was actually an adaptation of Air on a G String, but I think it is quite clear))
