I would have thought somebody else had already said my reason but I guess not. Hopefully nobody rolls their eyes too hard. Mine started somewhere between 1984 and 1988, the high school years, when I saw Amadeus. I enjoyed the movie and instantly became enamored of Mozart's beautiful music. When I went to college, the first CD I ever bought was Mozart's Symphonies #40 and #41, and it grew from there. From just being nice, tranquil music to help block out the college noise, I soon developed a larger appreciation for classical music, which I do believe stems from the fact that for two years at school my roommate was a music major. And here we are today.

That's nothing to be ashamed of Eric - about half the people I know got into classical via Bugs Bunny...
and welcome both Eric and Neville! Post more! We're friendly around here!

One of the things I love about B.com is that it's introducing me to a lot more classical I had never heard. Hadn't added much to my collection in years, but now, when I hear something I like, I can easily find out what it was and get it. Hard to do when listening to the radio in the car.

Definitely Bugs Bunny. And I found a huge pile of 78s in someones' garbage pile when I was a kidnin the early 60s, brought them home and listened to the unbroken ones. By the late 60s I was hooked on Beethovens' 5th Symphony and Tchaikovskys' 1812 Overture. Then I got into Jethro Tull in the early 70s and the rest was a blur. By the mid 80s I started stocking up on LPs of Chant, Baroque, Classical and Romantic volumes. Now I have CDs of quite a lot of them. But I don't have to change CDs if I put on Beethoven.com.

How has rock music changed through the years ? How has rock and roll music changed since the 50s?
including the instruments, the clothes bands wear, the way they sing, act etc.

The bands have got a whole lot scruffier.
