I've listened to that very orchestral version before. I really liked Foster's interpretation, better than most others. Yet to listen to the 'original' piano work, though.

When I was a young man, I played that entire performance as a one-man symphony. I ran seat to seat, picked up each instrument, and played its part before going on to the next. I was so winded at 4 minutes and 34 seconds I almost passed out. I’m sure the musical quality started to suffer around 3 minutes and 19 seconds due to my fatigue. I’m much older and wiser now so I’ll never do that again.

We had a much better performance at our wedding. More intense, emotional, and yet finely drawn.

It is one of the few pieces I play in public.

I've always wondered how much Cage had to cut from the original draft to get to 4'33"?

Is there a "Director's cut" version? say 5'42"?

A robot made by Honda directing an orchestra in DETROIT!! I'm sure Ford, et al., will be proferring excuses why they haven't been able to make a orchestra-conducting robot yet....

I was singin' along. I love Man of La Mancha. To fight for the right, without question or pause; to be willing to march into Hell for a heavenly cause... Asimo done good.

I too love that song.
OT sang "Impossible Dream" while Altoid was still incubating. They insisted he use the mic, and we were in a hard-surfaced room. I think I lost hearing that day, tho it was lovely. She was very bouncy whilst her daddy sung.
FWIW, RBChorale is doing a choral version this concert (tonight and tomorrow night). Neither OT or I are in the choir this go round.
