Jamie and Serenity

Scotch, applications of 2-3 oz. every two hours (extend to four hours for good single malts  )

Serenity, elevate your foot, the throbbing will reduce.

Jamie, elevate your....ah, never mind. Just so you know, mMy 59 year-old eyes are watering profusely in sympathy

I doubt there any male (kinda a redundant statement) here over 50 who isn't.

Best wishes on the results of the biopsy

Serenity, change out the neosporin and gauze frequently to help it heal.

Serenity - your braver than me. I'd let that baby soak off or stay on.

Jamie -oh, come on! Share! I hope it comes up nice and clean when you get the pathology report. Did they try to get you to participate in any clinical studies? (I'm involved in helping figure out the next great prostate cancer marker).

Didn't they do something like that in the movie Ensign Pulver?

No mention was made of any studies and I am not sure that I am at that point anyway (hope not). Thanks for the good wishes and best of luck to you in working towards a "fix" for prostate cancer. 1 in 6 men have it. Fortunately in most cases, it is slow moving and usually occurs at an advanced age. Still the symptoms of BPH or cancer for that matter certainly affect quality of life. I get the labs back on Thursday or Friday...hopefully good news.

Au contraire, Jamie.
Diagnostics studies often want samples from guys who biopsy negative. That's about 70% of what we have in our freezers. If no one brought it up, they probably are not currently involved in a relevant study.

Teen Who Refused Chemotherapy Appears To Be Winning Cancer Battle With 'Alternative Medicine'.

He did receive radiation treatments, but refused the chemo. He had to go to court in order to be allowed to refuse the treatment his doctor prescribed, which strikes me as odd.

I think the court got it right on this one. Kid got some control over health-care decisions for his own personal body, with some adult supervision. Parental supervision is not always what I'd call responsible (consider the parents who refuse to immunize their children) or informed (consider the parents who think "natural" means "safe") or reliable (consider the parents who demand antibiotics for every sore throat, and then fail to give the antibiotics for the full ten days).

I, myself, would want to keep an eye on parents who'd name their son "Starchild". Just in case that's not the only oddity in their childraising practices. I also favor keeping an eye on the oncologist. I don't trust doctors who insist that there's only one way to treat a problem. Sometimes they're right and sometimes they're not.

Great news. But you knew that, I'm sure.

Now that I have family history (drat!), it's a requirement.

That's super news! Congrats. I just had my 10th anniversary colonoscopy and even though I didn't expect bad news the flood of relief that washes through your body on being told that you're all right put a lie to that cockiness that you had before the exam.

Guys, I lost a good friend to colon cancer when he should be alive today. GET. THE. EXAM!!
