30Q - Number 79

Postby Shapley » Thu Jun 12, 2008 9:02 am

Behold! I find myself now in a race
against OT, for second place.
(Alas, our Trumpetmaster, it seems
posts more than I can, even in my dreams.)
What better way, myself I ask
to incent myself towards the task
than to begin another Questions Thrity
(though OT may think I"m playing dirty)?

So let the game now begin anew
any era, any country, any opus will do.
I've chosen a piece, work, composition
to provide the answer to this edition.

And if you find, since it's been a bit,
that the rules are forgotten, don't worry with it,
If the rules are bent, or shattered to Hell,
'tis no big deal, for I've forgotten them as well!
Quod scripsi, scripsi.

Vox Humana, lovely singing
throughtout this work are ever winging
instruments of every kin
accompany the voices heard within.

I would answer the question were I permitted so,
but the questions must be 'yes' or 'no'.

Sorry...still getting the hang of it. Let me rephrase:

Does the composer's (last) name start with a "B" :?:

A "B". As in Ball, As in Boy, As In Beau.
The answer, I'm afraid, is "No".

Beethoven, Berlioz, Benjamin, Bach
Buxtehude, Borodin, Barber, Bartok,
Brahms, Bernstein, Bizet, Boccherini
Ruling Out "B" Doesn't leave Many.

I've never had much skill to rhyme
But I'll give it a try, at least this time.

Not that I expect you to exit your trance
But does the piece accompany a dance?

A dance? As in waltz, tango, or ballet?
Perhaps a Minuet, or a simple chassé ?
Written for a couple, toe to toe?
Alas, I have to say "no".

I have not been myself in posting... and it has dropped dramatically......................

You never know.. I've been so busy.... you might catch me one of these days...........

Does the name of the composer begin with "S"
As in snake, and snail, and sunset, and snow?
There are twenty-four letters left to guess,
because the answer to "S" is "no".

To save on posts, I'll do my best,
in clusters to consider the rest.
I start with 8 in a rhyme,
in an effort to get the initial and save us time.
Would it be A or C, D,F or E?
Perhaps it might be I, H or G?
An answer of No eliminates eight,
An answer of Yes leaves 7 to debate.
Altoid - curiously strong.

To aid the process and ease the task,
I'll answer now that which you ask.
Neither A nor C, nor D, F, or E,
Nor even I, nor H, nor G,
provides the initial of the surname
of the composer-subject of this game.
And, for those who wish to know the current count
of questions asked, "five" is the amount.

This music should abound with plenty
Was it written before century twenty?

The work I have selected was penned
after the Boxer Rebellion came to an end,
which, for those who in Chinese History are not well versed,
ended in 1900, with Peking in blood immersed.
