National Anthem

Postby JohnG » Fri Jun 13, 2008 10:54 am

In the past I have heard the national anthem by several different musical groups. Is there a reason you have been using The Millar Brass Ensemble so regularly? I enjoyed the variety. -John-

They do tend to stick with one rendition for some time, but they have changed it up in the past and will probably do so in the future. It's always a surprise to hear a new one

It's based on requests! We get a lot of requests for "that brass version" so we tend to stick to that. I'll change it up this coming week!

Where does this tradition of hearing the US National Anthem every day at noon come from? And why noon?

hello!

Our parent company is Marlin Boradcasting and for over 30 years the classical stations Marlin has owned have played the US National Anthem at noon each day. Noon is a perfect time too since we are heard on line and the Noon time alows us to cover asmany listeners as possible due to listenership numbers.

Thanks for asking!

I love it! Don't stop. It reminds me of when I was a kid and the TV stations used to sign off at night with the Anthem (or some other inspiring American tune)...usually with scenes of jets flying in the sky etc.

3/1 ND Band's National Anthem was very good.

Suggestions:

US Marine Corps Band, preferrably a Sousa arrangement.

Most college bands have CDs in circulation or MP3s on their websites, could start a good rotation. Though not as polished as a formal concert band, they play the anthem often enough to be very good at it.

Just for grins to see if anyone is listening, through in the Jimi Hendrix version.

Congrats to Marlin Broadcasting for continuing a fine tradition.
