As suggested in the 'Comments' thread, I'll start this topic. If you could choose a soundtrack for your expiration, which would you choose?

I stick to my earlier suggestion that Mahler's Symphony No. 2 (the 'Resurrection') would be my choice.

A soundtrack or a complete piece. I think it's pretty clear from the 'modern medicine' thread that most of us want to pass pretty quickly, so it may be that a whole symphony would be too long, maybe Funeral March for a Marionette would do the job, or a fanfare for organ. Widor's Toccata from his fifth symphony for organ, perhaps?

..were it for me I'd probably use Marais' "Bells of St Genevieve".. That's what i put on when got home after last bypass operation and it gives one's soul a massage. I find it relieves physical pain.

If it's for those in attendance, I'd pick Mozart's "Requiem"(at risk of appearing unsophisticated, which I obviously am).
My sister and I use it after family funerals for a quiet hour to help our feelings settle. Lacrimosa unchokes those tears you had to hold back while making the arrangements..

I think of the requiem as being music for those left behind, to be played over your carcass, not while still breathing, or while breathing your last. But, to each his own....
