“In Woonsocket, RI, Tea Party activists swarmed the City Council and stopped massive new supplemental tax hikes to bail out the public school district. The tax measure, which had been expected to pass 6-1, went down by a 4-3 vote.”
As Jim Geraghty noted the other day, 100 or even 1000 people at a rally might be a news story, but when they show up to a City Council meeting it’s an earthquake. Or a Congressman’s meet-and-greet.
I mentioned that the MRHYN went to the one in Dallas, on her own, while I was out of town. That was HUGE.
I might do something like that, but when she told me she was going I knew viscerally that the movement has deep roots. My wife's political involvement has always ended at voting and electing officers of her wives club. Now she is scouring the Internet and helping with the next big Tea Party in Dallas on July Fourth. She’s even talking about recording the next town meeting and watching it!! Her, my wife? I was momentarily thinking about demanding where my real wife was and where are the rest of the pods!!
When the MRHYN gets political…..well, I think politicians ignore this movement at their own peril
