Treatment of cervical cancer during pregnancy

what are safe procedures for staging cervical cancer during the early 2nd trimester of pregnancy?

Is the risk of miscarriage associated with biopsy and/or with conization/cone biopsy known?
What is it?

Sorry I can not answer your questions Piq... but as a survivor of this evil cancer, I can add a few comments. It's one of the worst for women, right behind breast cancer. All my best to the person going throught this.

I do know there are several ways to treat it. I have met lots of women who have gone through it. If it's caught early the treatment is minor. But caught late... I've heard terrible stories. One women I met will not be able to have children. The doctors had to remove large sections, and now her body will never be able to support a child. Best of Luck to your friend.

How far along in Pregnancy before you start to feel the baby? I am just curious, because I swear that last night I felt the fetus move, but I am not sure, as it's my first pregnancy. So, just wondering how far I'd have to be before I would be able to feel any movement.

new moms, ~ 20 wks say the books.
experienced moms ~ 17 wks ditto.

both feel movement at the same time, but new moms dont realize thats what it is, say teh books.

Movement can be felt around 16-18 weeks from a vigorous baby, later if the baby is a bit more sedentary. Some are stronger than others. Some are larger than others.

The first perceptible movement is a little fluttering; the baby is not strong enough or big enough to actually push on the uterine wall, she only kind of touches and bounces off it. Later, as they can brace themselves against the other side of the uterus, things get quite a bit more dramatic.

Altoid did that at ~ 8 mo, except for the bursting thru part.
For two days, my abdomen hurt from her weight dragging down on the skin and remnants of muscle, then with one godalmighty (and rather frightening to behold) convulsion, the little angel put herself head down, weight on my pelvis, and walking was easy again.
