What is the name of this song?

Postby Nannerl » Tue Nov 17, 2009 4:14 pm

Hello. I just watched The Young Victoria and i was wondering if anyone knows the name of the song that the song "Lord Melbourne" from the track was based upon. The only sample I can find is at iTunes. The song sounds very familiar and I heard that the composer for the movie, Ilan Eshkeri integrated classical music into the score. So I was wondering if anyone knows what the original is called, or if in fact there is an original for the song. I've been going crazy trying to search it up. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I listened to a 30 second preview on a download site. It sounds familiar, but I can't put a name on it.

It is familiar, isn't it? Ballet comes to mind, but senile dementia sets in and I can't name the piece.

I was thinking more of a waltz, but I can't place it. Tchaikovski, perhaps?

It's a piece that gets played here on B.com from time to time. I just can't put my finger on it...

I'm hoping it'll show up here on B.com again, and I'll recognize it. I'm just drawing a blank on it. I can hear it playing in the back of my head.

Maybe I can find a longer clip when I have time to search.

since all of us are baffled by this piece (name) I sent the link to HRH and pleaded for her help in identifying. She said she'd take a listen at her first opportunity. Maybe she'll play it. In any event, she said she'd post the name if she can.

Without checking my collection, I'll risk my reputation on Dvorak's String Serenade. :)

Well done, Shos. Dvorak's Serenade for Strings in E Major, altered a bit by the film's music man. iTunes has a nice sample.

I see that the Dvorak Serenade was played over the weekend, but I had to miss it. I was going to search my CD collection, I think it may be there. I didn't recognize the piece in question by playing the short clips on Amazon. Most available CD's don't even include a sample for the Serenade.

I don't doubt Shos, but I am from Missouri... ;)
