Canada's seals need your voice now‏!

Friends of b.com, I don't usually ask for your help but this has been going on far to long I thought this practice had stopped years ago.
I've had an email from peta.org

Did you know that the Canadian government still allows for hundreds of thousands of seals to be killed in its annual seal massacre? Most of these gentle creatures are just babies, and many are skinned alive on the ice while still conscious.

With all eyes on Canada as it prepares to host the 2010 Winter Olympics, the country should end the seal slaughter now so that the Vancouver Olympics aren't tarnished. Write to the Vancouver Olympic Organizing Committee and urge it to help end the seal slaughter now!

The whole seal-clubbing practice is a real stomach-turner, but I strongly urge fact-checking and some independent research before you sign on to any peta campaigns. You don't want to find yourself accidentally supporting anything that, had you thought about it a bit first, you'd have labelled Too Silly For Words. Not telling you what to do, not telling you what to avoid, just urging you to do your own fact-checking and think a bit before acting.

I also had an email of the same people last week about the fur trade and the trapping and caging of Animals I couldn't watch that video eiher skinning the poor creatures alive it made me cry.

Painful...and anyone would agree that clubbing of seals is brutal. Many humane animal groups oppose this as they should. Be aware though that PETA's reputation among them is...well...sketchy. Most people (myself included) think they are a bunch of over-the-top freaks and flakes. Sea Kittens indeed.

it was too rough for me.

And those times I look around at my fellow men and I am reminded of some likeness of the beast-people, and I feel as though the animal is surging up in them. And I know they are neither wholly animal nor wholly man, but an unstable combination of both. As unstable as anything Moreau created. And I go... in fear.
