That thought crossed my mind too. To shoot from the hip and draw the Mona Lisa is a fantastic achievement. Not a nail out of place.

So how is it done? I can't see how he fakes it.

Analyzing a Fake on the Internet
The camera is too far away in the initial shot to determine anything about what is actually appearing on the board. The camera is stationary for the actual firing, so it would be trivial to add dots in video post processing.
Varying amounts of dots appear with one apparent pull of the trigger. Sometimes 5 to 10 at a pull. There are no automatic nail guns and while some guns can fire multiple nails at a time, it is generally because of switch bounce, and the manufacturers try to engineer it out. If you don't know how many nails are coming out at a time, how can you possible aim them with artistic integrity?
Nail guns are not rifles, because there is no value to rifle accuracy in a nail gun. The nails lean and sway when they enter the chamber, which is only as long as a nail. They are not shot out with any sort of consistent force. The nails are manufactured on high speed lines and the tolerances are wide so there are no tight fits. At the distance this guy is shooting, he'd be lucky to hit within a 6 inch circle of where he is aiming.
When the camera gets picked up, it takes its "eye" off the board just long enough for an off-screen accomplice to replace the unmolested board with a pre-made board in the correct pattern. It looks like an accident of sloppiness, but that's where the magic happens . . .
There are similar videos of a crew like this on a work-site performing other physics-defying feats with construction tools. All show evidence of video manipulation, common magicians tricks and the badly acted responses of amazement by the onlookers.

Thx Big Jon...I thought the vid looked fake too (since I have a fair degree of experience using nail guns). I just couldn't see how it was done. If you look at the "shooter", at one point, he turns his head and eyes off of the target while he is still shooting the pattern...Impossible. It's still fun to watch.

It looked to me as if he was following the nail pattern, not the other way around. For instance, he seemed to have the gun pointed at the head when the hands started forming, and he jerks the gun downward in response.

I looked a BigJon's other links. The 'Robin Hood' splitting the nail was cute, but if you've ever hit a nail with a nail when driving them with a nail gun, you know it won't do that. And that is right out of the barrel, not after the nail had traveled a dozen feet, losing velocity all the way.

What's happening in #1? Is that plane exceeding the speed of sound? My favourite is #2. If you're going to do stunts like these, use a something big.

Number one is a complete putz and should have been yanked out of the pilot's seat forever, to turn on to the knife edge like that when you are that close to the ground shows a complete disregard for life and aircraft.

I love videos that visually display the music.

Have you seen Ronald Jenkees before? He's an odd looking guy, but he makes magic on the electric piano. Just watch the efficiency of his playing. This one sounds like an Eric Johnson instrumental.

Interesting stuff BigJon...I liked both. The sonar melody was cool and I liked the orange screens and the "persistence of vision" effect when they changed to white.

Ronald Jenkees "guitar" was great...rockin' melody. He seemed a little strange, but probably some genius working in there.
