So who is "Jaimie in Washington, DC" requesting the Adagio in G, and why won't he/she join us for lunch?

The more the merrier, Jaimie!

The accident was on the Red line. I take the Red line all the time, but not the section affected by the accident. My daughter was on her way home by Metro when the accident happened. She was coming home from her job in Virginia and, even though the accident was at the far north at the Maryland border, the system backed up and she had to transfer to a bus to get within a mile of her house and then walk the rest.

That's the busiest line on the Metro system and the closure of the 3 stations is causing havoc all over the city.

Barfle works in Virginia and Stravinsky works downtown. I'm guessing they're okay, but it would be good for them to check in to make sure.

Better late than never, but the Metro train wreck didn't affect me personally.

The roads, including the beltway, are still full of potholes.

Last winter was a bear. The snow is all gone, but the damage will last for several more months.

Same up here.... pot holes ALL over the place. they don't even fill them properly.. just enough so you don't get a flat.

they've already done a round of pothole fixing on the major highways - not too bad there, side streets aren't that good, but we're used to this up here. When I lived outside of Detroit it seems that they waited until they were going to repave the road completely to get at the potholes. We lived there 2 years, and a major hole I navigated everyday I went to work was there for at least 18 months before they really fixed it. Happy to be in upstate NY where people aren't in denial that winter happens...

The George Washington Memorial Parkway's maintenance crew hasn't begun to repair the potholes, because they are still busy clearing the trees that were damaged in the big snows in December and February.

It's going to be quite the boon for the tire dealers.
