Apparently I don't have Asperger's. That's a relief. Must be just senile dementia...

analog,

I see you deleted another post. I was just going to comment that I am currently reading The Sand Pebbles. The book is a great read, BTW, if you haven't read it yet.

yes, i did.. probably unnecessary..... it was off topic and i worried it might offend....

this might belong in the Woe Is Me thread, but here goes:

I noted you report second high score(though well inside 'normal' range), and you are a tecchie sort too.....

http://www.webmd.com/brain/autism/tc/aspergers-syndrome-symptoms?page=2
Symptoms in adulthood

Asperger's syndrome is a lifelong condition, although it tends to stabilize over time, and improvements are often seen. Adults usually obtain a better understanding of their own strengths and weaknesses. They are able to learn social skills and how to read others' social cues. Many people with Asperger's syndrome marry and have children.

Some traits that are typical of Asperger's syndrome, such as attention to detail and focused interests, can increase chances of university and career success.
Many people with Asperger's seem to be fascinated with technology, and a common career choice is engineering.

I always identified with Steve McQueen's maladjusted character in "Sand Pebbles", he found solace in his engine room. I think i need to pick up a copy of the book - thanks for suggestion!

Learning about the condition has helped me a lot. Life we live forward but understand backward.

From same article:
But scientific careers are by no means the only areas where people with Asperger's excel. Indeed, many respected historical figures have had symptoms of Asperger's, including Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Albert Einstein, Marie Curie, and Thomas Jefferson.

I'm more in the league of Homer Simpson.....

End of digression - hope it helps somebody.

Heh. Quiz sez I'm not likely to be autistic. Paranoia, schizophrenia, OldTimers, etc. not evaluated. Probably a good thing for me.

General bad temper also not evaluated. Definitely a good thing. Having a real cranky day here. Carpet cleaners coming tomorrow, I have to remove bricabrac from surfaces of things likely to need moving.

I took it again, scored 13 this time. Was 14 last time. No Asbergers here.

Carpet is cleaned and mostly dried up. Fog rolls in about bedtime, slows up evaporation. Am continuing to box things and move fragile/valuable things in car and stage sturdier stuff in the garage. This is not making my arthritis love me: on the positive side, the shoulder joints are complaining through a wider range of motion than I had two weeks ago.

My kid sister is at some two-week course for teaching some goofy program next school year in Aurora. It'll be something science-related and geeky for overachievers. I get pitiful text messages, and reply with equally pitiful messages about how much moving sucks. My aunt turns 90 this coming August, and we will both be in Albuquerque if we can swing the scheduling issues we both have. If so, we may have to go out drinking and cry in each other's metaphorical beer - anyone know a good cruising ground for drunken grannies? In Albuquerque?

If you can picture drunken grannies in Albuquerque, you have not got Asbergers...

This will be interesting....

This Coming Sunday--

Set Your DVR for the Fox News channel at 9:00 PM eastern. Maybe this is why the White House has been discounting FOX. Sounds like this could be history in the making - someone may go down - either Obama or Fox News. It may be that Fox has been holding this information back due to the sensitivity of it and out of courtesy. But, Obama has taken on Fox and it appears they are ready to spill the ugly beans of truth about the background of this individual who has had an extremely radical past. This Sunday, Fox News is going to air a very important documentary about Barack Obama, Sunday night at 9 P M Eastern. The report will go back to Obama's earlier days, showing even then his close ties to radical Marxist professors, friends, spiritual advisers, etc. It will also reveal details about his ties to Rev. Wright for 20+ years, i.e., how he was participating with this man and not for the reasons he stated. The report has uncovered more of Obama's radical past and we will see things that no one in the media is willing to put out there. It will be a segment to remember. Mark your calendar and pass this on to everyone you know: Sunday night, 8 PM CT; 9 PM ET. Democrat or Republican, this report will open your eyes to how YOUR country is being sold down the road to Totalitarian Socialism. If you care about the direction of our country, pass this notice on to everyone you know.

Sounds like a hoax. If it's not, I'd be interested in reading a summary.
