... Bonnie and I are headed down to Temecula for Halloween weekend. Same old wine group friends!...

If you're that close, you might enjoy dragging the friends down to Escondido for my SIL Garrett's Halloween display. They might even recall - they used to live in Temecula and his pirate ship and dragon displays made the local Temecula paper those years.

I generally play the part of Chief Cat Herder and Baby Wrangler. The baby may not need wrangling this year, but you never know. The cats will still be totally annoyed at all the uproar.

Selma...I could not find any information on that event. Do you have any details? time/place etc. Sounds like fun. Usually on Halloween we drink a lot of wine and then use power tools and knives to carve pumpkins.

Event is Halloween. Venue is their front yard. You know how some people get all over-the-top and cause power grid failure with the Christmas yard displays? Garrett does Halloween, instead. It's quite impressive, and there is candy. The PiqOTenors have attended, when Altoid was much shorter...

Wine and power tools? Very Tim Allen-ish, yes? More Power! More Power! More Merlot!

Great piles of bare ribs were generated. Dai's son took the prize.

I left California in 1986, vowing never to return (a vow I've broken at least four times since, having returned there on business).

My family would like to travel westward, though. So I many have to return yet again at some point. Perhaps I can persuade them that Fat Ivor's is a necessary stop there. I'd have to visit the Ronaldus Maximus Shrine (a.k.a. Presidential Library) and the Nixon Home and Library if I go there, so we would be in the general area...

The imbibing saved my attitude, if not my life. There had been rain, and several induhviduals on the road had celebrated by diving their vehicles into ditches and up into the iceplant. I was fairly cranky until the server brought my Irish coffee, at which time I improved.

The escargot are worthy of mention. They were not menu items, but a live mollusc ranch out back of the restaurant - Lilbit and Altoid were responsible for the venture. There was an attempt to distract the girls with coldlight adornments...

I need to acquaint Altoid with colored threads, waste canvas, aida cloth. This child needs hobbies, and I'm always on the lookout for another potential threadhandler.

Ahem. Upcoming opportunity, most particularly for OTs siblingesses. Somebody should give them a heads-up.

It's called a "Quilt Run". One acquires a "passport" at one's first quilt shop stop, and gets it annotated at the later stops, and turns it in for the prize drawing at the last stop. Yes, prizes. Meantime, one has visited a whole bunch of quilt shops (there are sixteen this year and four or five of them are new to me!) and fondled much fabric. It is either a wonderful or a dreadful way to spend one's spare time for a whole week. Depends on your personal hobbies and preferences, you see.
