More rain today. I guess the drought is at an end. The State of Illinois was moving the snow plows around down here, looks like they're gearing up for some adverse weather.

We got a whole 3.3 inches of snow Wednesday. after the initial storm, the lake effect pounded the Buffalo area. Over two days Buffalo itself got 9 inches, but a town 5 miles to the south got 32! Heard reports of more like 40 inches in other areas. We got a few flakes yesterday and it's been clear today. Considering us lucky as Pumpkin's winter boots and snowpants are too small and W-mart didn't have his boot size and only one design in his size in snowpants - he didn't like them. He's got a b'day party at the Chuck E Cheese near the mall Saturday, so we'll be searching again...
We've got at least 30% chance of snow pretty much everyday for the next week. Which could mean a foot, or nothing...gotta love the lake effect!

Growing up in tropics was fine, but as an older guy i sure feel better in this cooler climate!

I'm guessing we'll have at least a foot of snow from about midnight last night to the end of the day today. Mostly wind blowing it around yesterday, but woke up to at least 3-4 inches and it's not letting up. Add this on to Pumpkin missing the bus, husband running late so I took the boy into school, then 45 min drive (instead of 30) into work...then before lunch had to run out to one of the schools we work with...pretty miserable day if you have to drive...now planning to leave ~20 min early so I can get the kids at the usual time. Can't complain too much - Buffalo did just get 40 inches + in two days - don't think we'll get that much.
And at least we're not getting snow like this while living in Michigan - Ann Arbor, I swear, liked to believe that they never got snow and would wait until it stopped to plow. Which leads to fun like taking 65 min to get out of town (usually less than 10 min drive!), then another 55 min (should have been 25) to get home. Rochester plows start trolling when the flakes first start - it'll be a long day for them! That way the roads are sloppy, but passable.
Oh yeah - 20's and thankfully much less windy today, but still some wind...

It ain't looking to get any better by Christmas, either.

Bastardi is predicting that the pattern will result in over 50 percent of the country having a white Christmas which is well above the average coverage of less than 25 percent of the country which is usually covered by snow Christmas Day.

Since we decided not to deal w scanners etc just now, we're carefully not telling Altoid that her other Gma's house is buried inches deep in snow already. If she knew, I think she might make the travel arrangements herself.

Mid 60's here. Been sunny. The heater is running because it got down to 65 in the house overnight, and we warm it up to 68 in the am. Pure decadence!

Sadly, no snow in sight for our local mountains. But we got enough rain last month for a bumper crop of weeds all around the yard. Hey! Maybe santa will bring me a giant-sized bottle of Round-Up for Christmas!

The more musicians the better. I don't use the air conditioner and my windows are always open. Don't forget about cockroaches, drivers making left turns from the right hand lane, tasteless food, highest taxes in the nation, really expensive gas, rude and boorish tourists, geckos (they crap everywhere), faltering orchestra that often cannot pay its' members, lying politicians, more taxes, nepotism beyond belief, Spam, expensive housing, no parking anywhere, and enough military running around carrying guns to make you think you're in a banana republic.
