The science fiction event of a lifetime. Alas, if only it were real. This is a fake — a slickly produced fake, to be sure, replete with clever editing and enough gags to make it a bona fide viral video phenomenon, but still a fake. I promise, though, that you’ll enjoy it anyway, either as a straightforward rendering of what an inevitably crappy “E.T.” sequel would look like or as a broader parody of Hollywood’s paint-by-numbers “evil aliens” genre. Why, there’s even an Obama cameo!

I loved the closing credits.....it's only a movie....right?

Heh. I just love it, especuially the play on the necks and the fang. I watched it a second time and identified at least three real movies, it's a hoot!!!

These guys remind me of a young Metallica. I'm not usually into such doom-y metal, but I love this piece and play it over and over, even though it is unrelentingly gloomy. Actually some of the lyrics are poetic. I know we have a couple metalheads in the family here. What might be of interest to the rest of the B.com gang is they name-drop Glenn Gould in the song.

Incedible story on that hand transplant. I still remember as a kid when they did the very first arm re-attachment. A young boy whose arm was cut off as a result of having been severed on a train track:

In 1962, 12 year old Everett Knowles was trying to hop a freight train in Somerville, Massachusetts and was thrown against a stone wall ripping his right arm off cleanly at the shoulder. Knowles walked away from the tracks using his left hand to hold his right arm inside a bloody sleeve and was then rushed to the emergency-room. Chief surgical, Dr. Ronald Malt immediately assembled a team of experts he would need. After hours of surgery the doctors reconnected the blood vessels, pinned the arm bone together, and grafted skin and muscle together. After the boys hand turned pink and a pulse returned to the wrist doctors reattached four major nerve trunks. After four years of recovery, Knowles had the same use of his right arm and hand as a natural lefty. He eventually drove a six-wheel truck and lifted sides of beef at his job.

A carpenter once bent too close to a circular saw at his workshop and got his ear lopped off. Luckily one of his assistants had the presence of mind to pack the amputated ear in a plastic bag with ice and take it to the hospital with the injured man.
The doctors did a great job sewing it back on, and when they finished the head surgeon brought the carpenter a mirror and asked him to look and tell him how the job had come out.
"All very well", said the carpenter, "but that's not my ear!"
"How can you say that?", asked the surgeon.
The carpenter: "It doesn't have a pencil behind it!"
