Faux German and Faux French Faux Latin... Here is a brilliant video that was done way back in 1972 by an Italian artist Adriano Celantano. He created this piece to simulate what English sounded like to Italian people. I've listened to the whole thing many times...you'd swear that they were saying something....but you just don't know what. It sure sounds like American English to me but it's just gibberish! Just brilliant.

The tune is really catchy. I guarantee that you'll listen a couple of times and the choreography is great! Quite a production for its time. If anyone speaks Italian, I'd love to know what the girl asked at the start of the video.

I just got an attagirl! It's signed by the Secretary of the Navy - in actual ink! - and they put it in a frame. For 40 years service, and gave me the 40 year service pin, too.

Of course, the corporations have had a hand in that too with cutbacks, layoffs, relocations, downsizing, rightsizing and generally just treating people like furniture.

Anyway, didn't mean to turn this into a bitch session...I am happy for you and your accomplishment. You should be justifiably proud. WTG.

Among study coordinators/information analyst types around here, I'm getting to be an old-timer at my almost 7 years of service...We get a lot of folks just out of undergrad or masters programs who want reserach experience, then either pick up a masters while working, or after a few years leave for a masters/PhD program. Also getting to be that most of the staff I work with are 10+ years younger than me...may be why one of the faculty members I work with (who is likely only about 10 years older than me or so) considers me more of a colleague than staff. Nice to be appreciated like that. I also do have my PhD - that helps too... We're losing two staff members this summer to graduate programs and a post-doc to private practice. Fresh blood coming in all the time...

Long ago I decided that Friday the 13th would be my lucky day. Haven't been at work more than an hour when officemate mentions her sister, who is graduating college this weekend, will be looking for an internship here. And, of course, I decided yesterday that we needed to see if we could get another 1-2 people for the summer...

Now I just need the thunderstorms to take a break when I pick up Bella and head to the grocery store...they haven't started yet, but supposedly coming this pm.
