The triumph of modern technology is not the whiz-bang speed of this and that, but the vast and rapidly-growing increase in storage capacity.
When I first met IT, before it was called IT, storage was the limiting factor, which is one reason everything was printed out on forests of line-flo paper. Now, my printer sits idle most of the time unless I'm dealing with a matter where a paper trail may be necessary, or I'm printing a disc label. In fact, this printer was bought specifically for printing disc labels.
