Republicans... have shot themselves in the foot selling out to the evangelicals and crackpot Tea Party.

Not the first time they've done this. The strategy is to get the swing voters on board first, then go for the moderates. Or you could rephrase that: get the nut-case voters by showing them you are one of them, then before the election start acting and talking like the average American--so they will see you are not really so scary and are one of them.

Perry response on the death penalty has got the Left's knickers all in a twist and his views either pro or con are not really important to the election. It was another "gotcha" question by a Leftist moderator who so tone deaf he doesn't realize that a majority of Americans support the death penalty.

BAchman scares me because she is a kook. She's about ready to replace Palin as the star of "can you believe she actually said that!" discussion.
But she's a female, and the whole 'vote for him, he's black' (yes, it was an amazing event for america, to elect a black president, But... could we have chosen a bit better? and BTW, where are the black candidates this go round?) thing could kick in for her - whooo hooo our first woman president.
