The reversed Swastika is a religious symbol in India. This has been commented upon hre before, I think.

There was an issue a while back about an Indian Diner that was named after Adolf Hitler. The Jewish Community raised a stink, and the owner changed the name, but I don't think he ever understood the furor over the Führer.

I've often wondered about how 'World History' is taught in other regions. The things that matter to us may not matter so much to them. Yes, Jews died in concentration camps in Europe, and that matters a lot to Europeans and Jews, but the Indians probably see the European Theatre, and its attrocities as a side note to the bigger picture of the Pacific War with Japan, in which theatre India was actually a part. We see Hitler as a monster, as the embodiment of evil even, but to the Indian, is he worse than the British, whose attrocities against Indians and Ceylonians are documented in their History?

Methinks History is a matter of perspective. Try though they may, nations that have suffered genocides, wars, impoverishment, slavery, and devestation may have a little trouble getting worked up over genocides conducted long ago and far away, by nations of which they are not associated, against peoples with whom they are not associated. Here in America, we dress as pirates and have pirate days and celebrate piracy, despite the many people who died horrible deaths at the hands of pirates.

Charlie Chaplin made great fun imitating the Führer. We have made many comedies about Hitler and about the war. It's a simple fact that the whole world does not always share in the indignation of one people or one nation.

My car sports a swastika. It's on the bag containing a good-luck charm, and it came from a Buddhist temple in Japan. Being the age I am, I was reluctant to buy it, but my son said "Why should the Buddhists suffer because a pack of Germans hi-jacked their symbol?"

Rudyard Kipling used the swastika on his books until the Nazis arrived. There is no-one more redolent of the British Empire than Kipling.

I might add that the charm has worked perfectly so far. I wonder if it has an expiry date?

Used to work w a persian and an indian. Both learned of the great shah in school. One as a conquering hero bringing glory to his people and the other as a hated and despised invading tyrant.

JESSE JACKSON, JR.: Obama should ‘declare a national emergency,’ add jobs with ‘extra-constitutional’ action. And treat opponents of his jobs act like Confederate Rebels.

Two thoughts; (1) He should resign for this statement, which constitutes an abnegation of his oath of office; and (2) Just a reminder — those Confederate Rebels were Democrats, mostly. Trouble with item (1) is that if contempt for the Constitution were grounds for leaving Congress, we’d hardly have a Congress. But still . . . A pathetic example of today’s pathetic political class.

I wonder what percentage of Congressmen has actually, you know, read the Constitution. I suspect the number who did could be counted on two hands.

This seems to be a problem a lot of places, not just Baltimore. It’s almost as if they’re attracting a different sort of people than the Tea Parties do.

Grassroots movements like this always attract rabble. I'm not surprised they don't want police around their "community." For the sake of those who are not rabble, I hope the police ignore that sort of rant.

The T.E.A. Party rallies are usually short-term events. They don't have tents set up for living quarters, they usually don't stay overnight, unless they rent a hotel. They do not 'occupy' locations. They are a political movement, not a revolution or a mob action.

The local ones are no different than any other political rally or concert venue. They don't exclue law enforcement, but They've not hired private security. Then, again, it's pretty rural here so it's not the same people you would attract in downtown St. Louis, Chicago, New York City, or San Diego.

From the reports I've read on the "Occupy Wall Street" movement, they have attracted a lot of homeless people and the local street culture. This is probably because of the publicity, the availability of food, and the opportunity to pick up a few bucks (there are some very capitalistic Socialists in the mix).

But, in short, no I don't think the T.E.A. Party rallies have had a major issue with such things.

And yes, I think that sexual assault occurs at Tea Party events too, and that they dont talk about those things because its part of their culture to believe its the woman's fault, and that it would make them look bad to admit it in public "we dont air our dirty laundry, dear".

that sexual harrassment laws are unwarranted government intrusion, etc. The Occupy types are greedy selfish twits who want something for nothing.

Wow, I'm.....speechless. Have you even been to a tea party event? I have, most of us are too old to get up to what you think is happening. I guess that's why we clean up after our rallies, to cover up the evidence of all the felonies that occurred.

I can sympathize with their feelings. Some people are struggling in this weak economy; many are jobless. Frustration turns to anger. Meanwhile,

1) without the MBS's created by Wall Street the banking crisis wouldn't have happened

2) post-bailout, many Wall Street firms are doing OK . So I can understand the anger

3) If there had been no MBS's the mortgage defaults would have happened anyway and there would have been a crisis stemming from housing. Where would anger be directed then? At the mortgage industry? At the legislators who made it happen? I don't think much thought has gone into this movement. That is the problem with OWS.

Doomed by unfocused irrational slogans is no way to go through life, son. Self-reliance applies here. Sure, these people are angry and the world's unfair but they need to take care of their problems.

The point is, there are jobs wanting, and there are people wanting jobs, and never the twain shall meet...

I gather that the 'occupy' movement members don't want jobs, they want positions...
