Still raining, with rain forecast all the way past Christmas. High today expected 81, as I post it's a chilly 72. UV index 6. NOAA says waves to 8 feet east and north facing shores. From their site:

Surf heights are forecast heights of the face or front of waves. The surf forecast is based on the significant wave height, the average height of the one third largest waves, in the zone of maximum refraction. Some waves may be more than twice as high as the significant wave height. Expect to encounter rip currents in or near any surf zone.

I'm convinced visitors are oblivious to the danger of Hawaiian beaches. Almost all have rips and drownings are common. About once a month someone gets pounded to shreds on lava at places like Hanauma Bay .

Some surfers are attracted as much to the danger as to anything else, methinks. I suppose that's true of many sports - nearly every ski zone has a 'daredevil' slope somewhere about.

clear sunny and cold here in NorCal. Got down to 28 degrees last night...lots of dead stuff in the garden to clear out now. When or when will it snow/rain????!!!! I need to be on my skis and the Sierra's are naked.

Enjoyed a lovely day of scuba diving at Point Lobos state preserve yesterday. Quite cool with water and air temps in the low 50's. However, the clear sunny skies brought a little radiant heat to our shivering bodies. Breezy though which did not help.

They are predicting a warm New Year's weekend and
temp's will go down to 15 - 20 by the middle of next week.

76.1, and a warm, humid NE wind from the tropics, to be replaced tomorrow with a SW wind off the polar icecap. Shouldn't be too bad though, at this time of year.

Sunny clear and cool here in Northern CA today. I wish today was yesterday. I was supposed to take my first flying lesson yesterday but alas, no VFR in effect due to light rain and foggy conditions. Have to reschedule.
