A while back I wasn't feeling that well and stayed home from school. It was Wednesday, one of the local public radio station's all request days, and someone had requested the 1712 Oveture by this fellow "P.D.Q. Bach". Supposedly, it celebrates J.S. Bach's only visit to America to fix an organ or something like that. It was perhaps the funniest thing I had ever heard, and for the next 20 minutes anyway, I was quite well. What's more this recording opened with a speech by a guy the host refered to as the "infamous" Peter Shickele. In it he is explaining what the work is about but is repeatedly interrupted by a pesky bee and is driven offstage by it.
He was also the perpetrator of the arranging of Pomp And Circumstance with human voices for the recent Fantasia 2000, I believe.
Bob
