Someone had a wonderful idea for a thread so....I stole er ah used it! To whet your appetites, I thought we might start here Chocolate Pear Tart

i am soooooo about this thread!!
last nite i was standin in the kitchen with a hershy's bar in one hand and an open can of Jif in the other.

my favorite cookbook '1001 chocolate desserts' immediately comes to mind. i'll have to post my very easy tiramisu recipe here next week (if that consitutes chocolate).

i tend to agree with OT. i'm sure that chocolate & pear tart might taste good, but it really looks unappetizing!

Here's another chocolate recipe that's without pear: Chocolate Pave

ok, here the famous Lioness Tirammsu (and it's easy too!!). SaxyBuff you are soooo in my thoughts!

6 egg yolks
3 tablespoons sugar
1 pound mascarpone cheese
1 1/2 cups strong espresso, cooled
2 teaspoons dark rum ( i mean 1 pint)
24 ladyfingers

In a large bowl (use an electric mixer), beat egg yolks and sugar until thick and pale, about 5 minutes. Add mascarpone cheese and beat until smooth. Add 1-2 tablespoons of espresso. Mix until thoroughly combined.

In a small shallow dish, add remaining espresso and rum. Dip each ladyfinger into espresso for only a few seconds... 5 is too much! (If you let the ladyfingers soak too long they will fall apart and become mush.)

Place the soaked ladyfinger on the bottom of a pie dish. Don't be afraid to break them in half to fit the bottom.(A 13x9 baking dish will work too)

Spread evenly 1/2 of the mascarpone mixture over the ladyfingers. Arrange another layer of soaked ladyfingers and top with remaining mascarpone mixture.

Cover your masterpiece with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 2 hours.

Before serving, sprinkle with chocolate shavings (about 1/4 - 1/2 cup) for garnish

... and if you cannot, no matter how hard you look, find mascarpone cheese you can use plain cream cheese as an unacceptable subsitution

Oh man, Lioness, that sounds gooooood. If my wife enjoys tiramisu(and I seem to recall she does), I may need to make some for her. For purely selfless reasons, of course.

Mmmm, chocolate. I love chocolate! Especially dark or bittersweet chocolate. Ever eaten chocolate chips right out of the bag?

My dad has a recipe for chocolate cranberry tart that he got out of Bon Appetit. It's gooood. I'll see if I can get the recipe via e-mail from Home.

Chocolate also tastes great with peanut butter, raspberries, and marshmallows. Maybe not all at once...but then again, I've never tried that.

My sister and I went to a Godiva store at the mall once, just to look around, and we both got samples of a chocolate pear truffle. It was rather good, but the salesperson decided that the best time to ask us about possible purchases was while we were eating the truffles. That was the only time we ever got samples from the Godiva, too. Fortunately, there's a See's Candy in that mall too, so we got our free chocolate fix there.

I think I may have found it. Shortbread crust, ganache filling, cranberry-and-syrup topping? From the December 1999 issue? It's online at Cranberry Tart.

Warm chocolate cookies with reeses pbutnutter chips. shivvery yum!

That cranberry tart sounds good, but (<donning FRS>) better without the chocolate. <ducking and running>

Same thing for that yummy pear tart GC posted. Replace chocolate with caramel.......<rolling and swatting at flames...>

Almonds go well with chocolate. Hazelnuts go well with chocolate. Oranges go well with chocolate. Raspberries and almonds together go so well with chocolate that it is probably divinely ordained.

Mission Valley has Target and Hot Topic, but Fashion Valley has See's. Chocolate > funny T-shirts.

Edit: Ooh. I ended up with two boxes of See's Awesome Peanut Butter Brittle Bars for Christmas. I bought one for myself while I was shopping, and I got one in my stocking a few days later. They live up to their name!
