I think Ashoka only has it at lunch - not certain of that.

Star of India, yum but much more costly.

RC gonna have to try that recipe. yum yum. Once upon a few decades ago, I ground my own spices for garam masala etc. I think I'll go buy it at the indian grocery now. I do wonder if a mango tree would grow here or if the water bill would be exhorbitant.

Our mango is very delicate and loses most fruit before they ripen. When we have a bumper crop we can't eat them fast enough.
Requires lots of water, wind protection, and of course, you have to be careful to get the kind with yummy fruit - most are nearly inedible and all are messy. Those pits are tough on the mower blade too (tee hee).

We also have a great lime tree, I'm so lucky, (and they smell great when you mow them), and an avocado that fails to produce...ever. ah well, it's pretty.

And of course, a window herb garden.

I tried grinding stuff the old mortar & pestal way...pfff. Use a coffee grinder.

Passage to India is on Bernardo Center Drive, right by I-15. You come off the freeway, make the right toward town, and then make the first right into the parking lot. There are a whole bunch of restaurants in that parking lot, I'm pretty sure you can earn heartburn from six different continents.

Hi Piq,

The place on Miramar rd is A Taste of India. Can't remember the cross street, but it's right behind the Carl's Jr. on Miramar rd.

Now that Selma gave directions for A Passage to India, I know right where it is. In the same strip mall as Taco Bell.

Selam, have you ever tried Khyber(sp?) Pass? It's an Afghan restaurant in Hillcrest, on the same block as City Delicatessen. It's phenomenal!

There used to be an Indian restaurant 5 minutes from my house. It was called Rang Mahal. When it first opened the food was great. Then something happened. Same owner but it went down the toilet and eventually closed. I told Indian friends of mine here at work about the restaurant. They checked it out and would go there on their as the food WAS good.
Oh well.
There are some other good Indian establishments but not as good as this one was.

Just plain old housecats, particularly the two I live with now, Molly and Pepper. But I've always wanted to commune and communicate with dolphins. (Anyone remember a story in Analog magazine from about 20 years ago where a dolphin is healed by listening to the Pachelbel Canon?)

A.S. Byatt first drew it to my attention, but glass is contradictory: transparent and made from sand; created in fire and shaped with human breath; clear as water and solid as rock.

And given sufficient time, "solid" glass will run like a liquid, which is why very old windows are wavery and thicker at the bottom.

Ethnic Foods? nothing exotic - when lived in the Keys discovered Paella and homemade shrimp Alfredo; New York cheesecake for third.

Pet? When I was 12 raised a bluejay for a year, it was i guess pretty smart for a bird and very entertaining. I think a crow or raven might make an interesting pet, perhaps as smart as and less maintenance than a dog. Or,,,, perhaps a Model A Ford.....

The glass is definitely overflowing. Trouble is, we're brainwashed by Madison Avenue to think we need one twice as big.
