Just on the off chance I checked BevMo.com and, by golly, they have five brands of mango rum (though 3 of the bottles look suspiciously similar), mango tequila, mango vodka, mango puree, mango mixer, and bottled mango margaritas. Chances are excellent that I'll manage to find some nice mangos at VineRipe, not to mention several kinds of plain yogurt. Fresh limes.

BevMo also has shakers on sale. I have a blender. May play with this mango martini / fortified mango lassi notion.

I'm sorry to say, there's no mango gin. Nor mango vermouth.

mmm...Blue Cheese stuffed olives combined with Anchovy Olives...

I love food combos, the weirder, the better:

It's like the day my brother and I made Peanut Butter and Tuna and Mayonaise Sandwiches. Great Stuff!

A meal is only truly a meal when you can mix your entire dinner plate together and top with a Hot Hot sauce of course!

Then there are people, like my wife, who can't allow her foods or their juices to touch on the plate. "Look Bessie," I keep telling her, "the foods are not going to individual compartments in your stomach." (okay, I couldn't resist the cow reference, but it is true.)

Believe it or not, I do most of the cooking.

I use a lot of spices in my dishes -- we esp. do a lot of seafood and poultry.

My wife is the baker and has a few really good dishes that only she makes.

I pretty much handle the everyday stuff.

I really like things hot and spicy, so I usually have to make two versions by separating meats when necessary.

My wife's cousin bakes a mean brie with apricot or blueberry filling.

Now there's a dish!!!
Went to Aruba when I was married and there was a baked brie dish that was covered with raspberry sauce. Nothing better! Thought I died and went to heaven!

nice description TrumpetMaster...reminds me of an Ostrich Steak I had with Sweet Potatoes with a Blueberry gravy (it's the fruit that reminded me)...mmmmmmmmmmm.

I served our daughters Ostrich one night, I lied and told them that it was roast beef.

Dave,
I can BBQ steaks, burgers, & chicken on a grill but overall am a terrible cook. I will gladly go out to dinner!

Ostrich Steak?
Where in the world did you ever have and get that?
Did your daughters notice any difference?

I went to a fabulous buffet in New Jersey (Lioness - ever here of this one?) called
The Manor.

I thought I was eating chicken wings but they had a certain... taste. Thought it was the seasoning.
My buddy told me they were frogs legs and I almost puked right there in the restaurant.

That was my last experience with Frog Meat.

Has anyone had Rocky Mountain Oysters????

I love Frogs Legs -- esp. with a hot horseradish sauce.

Love escargot as well. Rhode Island Italian Restuarants make a real mean Snail Salad!

I was actually able to find the Ostrich filets at B.J.'s Wholesale. They were cut like filet mignon; I haven't seen them in awhile. My first experience with Ostrich was at an area restuarant.

And NO on the Rocky Mountain Oysters. I know what they are and given the opp. I would probably try at least once.

Dave,
I went on a number of business trips to Denver a few years back and was told to order Rocky Mountain Oysters. I had no idea what they were.
When I found out what they were, well.. you will not catch me even trying it. (would have to be drunk off my butt to attempt it).

Regards,
TM

I'm here! I'm alive!

And I absolutely adore appletinis!!!

I also happen to like cosmopolitans and the lemondrop martini.

and boy, do I miss them! Especially during times like the past couple of weeks, where it feels like I've done nothing but put out blinking fires around here!
but I digress. . .
