Windows Me gave me more trouble than I liked. XP seems both more robust and faster. Try an opsys upgrade.

The cookies and privacy settings in IE can get in the way of the map, too. If you are set to a high privacy setting, your computer might not be accepting data from the googlemap site.

I just looked at the map, and did a bunch of zoomin' in. What the heck is Altoid doing in the middle of I-8? OT must be out trying to retrieve her because he's on I-5!

OK. I've added myself to the map. I've even found my profile & moved my pin directly to my house. But, when I look at the map I don't see anything other than normal map features. I know I'm old & don't understand these technological tools. So, can someone explain how to see where other b.com people are? How do I find my pin & others while looking at the map?

There's no zoom control either and I set security to medium... Was no map before posting.

Don't fret this computer has been a lemon since came out of the box. MegaSoft has conditioned us to accept junk. I'm shopping for a mac.
Will try the map from a friend's house next poker game.

Good luck with that, I'm not fond of macs, myself, but they might suit you. You might try an opsys upgrade or a opsys change before you pitch the pc. OT likes FireFox and there are others using it, too, I think. Linux is pretty stable but I don't know how to tweek it. I loved my SunSparc 20 and the big Unix server, before our IT "improvement" pulled all the Unix boxes.

Sandy Eggo - took 45 min to get home last night (15 mile drive), with whiny Altoid. Maybe the Ozarks have some appeal.....

My husband has a cousin in Sandy Eggo - just had a baby - sure she'll be learning to walk next Nov/Dec outside. Poor Pumpkin - once he got good at the walking it was winter and he had to wait until April to run around outside.

Not that I really mind the snow - at least we don't get hurricanes, tornados (well, VERY rare), earthquakes, fires, or major floods. Snow melts eventually and they're REALLY good at clearing the roads up here.

And now that Pumpkin is addicted to being outside (he's really hating that the sun sets so early now), I'm really looking forward to making snowmen (love to do an homage to Calvin & Hobbes), snow angels, and sledding. And since he's doing such a good job helping rake leaves, I'm sure he'll help with the shoveling. Already have a little shovel for him! (Although we did get a snowblower this year - husband swore he wouldn't go without again after last year!)

We thought Altoid would be learning to crawl on the lawn, come Feb, March. HAH!
And we thought she'd be outside in her pram enjoying fresh air in Oct and Nov. HAH!

Last year it unusually rained nearly constantly from mid October til mid March and beyond sporadically. The grass was always soaking wet for 6 straight months. Altoid was yard deprived. She has since made up for it.

I liked to come home from work and do gardening for an hour. Altoid could hang as close as she wanted (she's kinda clingy in the evenings) without interfering with progress,and we both had fun. Its full dark when I get home now, and Altoid isnt quite as thrilled about folding laundry as an evening activity!

We tried to take Altoid to snow last winter but social obligations interferred. This winter we will by golly get there, now we know what social pitfalls to avoid!

Thanks - i downloaded the Firefox browser. It installed without hiccup or barf. Took only a minute. And the map appeared. Amazing!!!!!!! Maybe it'll run for more than thirty minutes without hanging the OS. THANKS for the pointer!

65 was a blizzard in S Florida where I spent my first 55 years.. I got older and could no longer withstand the heat and perpetual sunburn. Autumn agrees with me now. Enjoy your place in the sun;

Hi Analog,

There is a thread titled "Mozilla FireFox", and one poster linked a couple of tips to speed up FF. I still swear by it, and it's been over a year since I installed it. I'm glad it's working for you.

However.....

I'm also a huge Mac fan. I'd own one if I could justify affording it.

As for Windows ME, it's a dead-end operating system, and MS doesn't even talk about it anymore. IMO, using it is living on borrowed time.

Thanks OT. FF is running for me already about 4X faster than IE was . It actually worked, something I've been conditioned to not expect from a PC! Will check that site.

A good buddy back in the Keys really impressed me - he traded his PC for a small Evinrude and bought his wife a Mac. Both were far happier.

Were I a software guru I'd probably love Windows. But I'm an old hardware guy who preferred the Motorola architecture that IBM rejected because Apple was using it... Who'd have guessed in 1980 that ANYBODY would use that wacky Intel stuff? So it goes.

How do I get to my profile in Frapper? I really need to eliminate some of my shout-out. I'm not that lonely! And I'd like to move my pin a bit.

The satellite view of my part of town isn't very good yet, so I can't pick out my house. I probably could if I lived in some other part of town.

Wanna tag along to Denver with me next week? At present, there are about 35 miles of restricted access, chains required, ice and slush on I-70 near the Eisenhower tunnel. So I can guarantee some snow, somewhere.

In the upper-right hand corner of the Frappr map page is a search box. Under that is a link to your name (home). That will take you to your Frappr homepage. On the left there is a link to your profile. On that page there is a map. Mine was showing the pin and I was able to scroll around in the map & click. Low & behold the pin moved to where I clicked.

I still want to know how I see other pins on the main map. I don't see anything other than the map features themselves.
