Windows Me gave me more trouble than I liked. XP seems both more robust and faster. Try an opsys upgrade.Originally posted by analog:
Shutters ME, IE6.
Anything basic i shoulda done?
Good luck with that, I'm not fond of macs, myself, but they might suit you. You might try an opsys upgrade or a opsys change before you pitch the pc. OT likes FireFox and there are others using it, too, I think. Linux is pretty stable but I don't know how to tweek it. I loved my SunSparc 20 and the big Unix server, before our IT "improvement" pulled all the Unix boxes.Originally posted by analog:
MegaSoft has conditioned us to accept junk. I'm shopping for a mac.
Sandy Eggo - presently 65°F, some clouds, 24% humidity, very clear air. I could see all 4 Coronado islands from the bridge this morning. Water is calm and flat, surf looked like ~2ft. Yeah, like I'm gonna move to the midwest.Originally posted by analog:
- dont tell people how nice it is here - we'll be overrun.
Thanks - i downloaded the Firefox browser. It installed without hiccup or barf. Took only a minute. And the map appeared. Amazing!!!!!!! Maybe it'll run for more than thirty minutes without hanging the OS. THANKS for the pointer!Originally posted by Selma in Sandy Eggo:

Does this mean that you're going to write a number '3' in the snow and pee on it?Originally posted by Schmeelkie:

Thanks OT. FF is running for me already about 4X faster than IE was . It actually worked, something I've been conditioned to not expect from a PC! Will check that site.Originally posted by OperaTenor:
As for Windows ME, it's a dead-end operating system, and MS doesn't even talk about it anymore. IMO, using it is living on borrowed time.
Wanna tag along to Denver with me next week? At present, there are about 35 miles of restricted access, chains required, ice and slush on I-70 near the Eisenhower tunnel. So I can guarantee some snow, somewhere.Originally posted by piqaboo:
We tried to take Altoid to snow last winter but social obligations interferred. This winter we will by golly get there, now we know what social pitfalls to avoid!
In the upper-right hand corner of the Frappr map page is a search box. Under that is a link to your name (home). That will take you to your Frappr homepage. On the left there is a link to your profile. On that page there is a map. Mine was showing the pin and I was able to scroll around in the map & click. Low & behold the pin moved to where I clicked.Originally posted by dai bread:
How do I get to my profile in Frapper? I really need to eliminate some of my shout-out. I'm not that lonely! And I'd like to move my pin a bit.
