No more Beethoven Radio

Postby lew » Sat Dec 14, 2002 3:17 pm

Hi everybody,
I would just like to say how unhappy I am that I am no longer able to listen to Beethoven Radio. I cannot seem to download Macromedia Flash player. It downloads, but nothing happens - even after I reboot! I know I must be doing something wrong. I have e-mailed support a few times, and they are trying to help me.
Nicole Marie, I especially miss your program, and hope they can get me set up to listen to you again.
I wish you all Happy Holidays!
Elly

Hi Elly,
Have you tried the IM tuner? You should be able to get to it from the beethoven.com home page. You can also get the free download from http://www.imnetworks.com/imguide/imguide.epl. I believe it uses more bandwidth than the other receiving software, but as far as I know it doesn't require the Macromedia Flash player.
I hope this helps.
Jeff

I get Beethoven sporadically now.
I keep losing the stream, lots of pausing and buffering...
Also, if the station plays for awhile, I get a popup message that asks me if I want to continue listening. When I click 'Yes,' I have to go through the process of initializing complete with either the breaking of the piggybank ad, or that REALLY annoying Blue Guy that thanks me for chatting with him -- IT'S NOT A CHAT BUSTER, IT'S AN INVASION!!!
ah, feel better now. :)

Well, at least it takes a little longer between broken piggy banks and the blue guy in the box now. I was a little surprised to see the Bart Simpson ad back last week, but it's only popped up once that I have noticed.
It used to go off every four hours, but yesterday lasted quite a bit longer (I'll have to see how long it goes today).
And here we are complaining about being provided some of the greatest music in the world, for free.

Hi Elly,
Were you able to find Beethoven.com in the list of stations? I believe it is in Band L, which is Classical. It should be station 02.
If that doesn't work, try adding it to the Z band. In the "Play from URL" field, enter all of the following: http://tuner.imband.com/tuner/GetStation?StationID=http%3a//tuner.imband.com/tuner/GetStation?StationID%3dBeethoven.com%2520_mp3%3bUserID%3dus_f374bbc741eb4174aa54bf7a4327142 8;User ID=us_f374bbc741eb4174aa54bf7a43271428
Hopefully you can copy and paste it from this note. If not, I would be happy to email the info to you.
I don't think you HAVE to have info in the Website field, but you can add this if you wish: http://tuner.imband.com/tuner/GetStation?StationID=Beethoven .com%20_mp3;UserID=us_f374bbc741eb4174aa54bf7a43271428
You might also be able to get some help from the online support that is available.
Good luck.
Jeff
[ 12-17-2002: Message edited by: Jeff Dutton ]

Have you tried WinAmp? That's what I listen with and I have very little trouble with it. Right now it's been playing for about 4 hours with no problems and no pop-ups. Check it out.WinAmp Homepage
[ 12-17-2002: Message edited by: buikemap ]

Hi folks,
I am now listening to Beethoven radio - and I did miss it so much - especially Nicole Marie - and the others, of course.
I think the problem was with my Internet security settings. I was always getting the message that my security settings prohibited Active X.... etc. I am not particularly computer literate, but I think the setting kept me from downloading things. Anyhow I changed them enabling a few more things - and now I can hear my favorite radio station!
Thanks to all of you for taking the time to help me. I am so grateful and I hope you all have a Happy Holiday Season!!
Forever grateful,
Elly :) :) :) :) :)

Hey, that's great news! I know I would miss Beethoven Radio terribly.
I still think you might want to try using IM Tuner if you have a chance (and the bandwidth) to play with it a little. It does take more bandwidth, but in my opinion you can't beat the sound quality.
Jeff

Hi Jeff,
I did download it - and that might have been part of what helped. I think my high security setttings were keeping me from downloading stuff.
Thanks again,
Elly :) :)
