No worries OT, the Shiny Red Button is the "History Eraser" button. When you sense you're about to be engulfed in flames, I'll just go ahead and push it.

I may have already pushed it...

this is fitting for this thread. i picked up a pair of CD holders that were on sale for $19.99. one of those "put it together yourself" deals. i know i'm pretty handy sometimes...half of my furniture was bought in this fashon. not difficult, right?

i can’t understand how this product was approved for retail sale. parts are missing. the pre-drilled holes are crooked beyond any inch of compromise. by following the directions, my brand new screw driver is stripped.
directions say to use #2 screwdriver at an 'angle'... what????

not only will time and energy be wasted by having to lug these things down 3 flights of stairs to return them, they have now cost me the additional expense of buying a new tool.

 once i return these defective items, i will never step foot in another Wal-Mart again.

Once again - Wal-Mart is the antichrist. I would rather pay more and go to Target any day of the week.

Last year I bought these big storage racks for the basement. (Home Depot)

No tools required to put together.
Parts were not molded properly and I broke some of the parts trying to put the darn thing together.

Wal-Mart, Target, Home Depot....

My son and I were walking through Walmart recently - dragged there unwillingly by my wife -when my son turned to me and said" You know, this is the only store that I feel I'm too good to be in"

This was pretty funny to read through. I laughed back at the 2003 posts where the solution to preventing young innocent eyes was to black out the headlines using those lame racks with black painted on them. That's like putting neon lights on the rack that say "young person - look at me!"

I just went to walmart the other day...in fact, sam's club and walmart seem to be the only places in this city (besides whole foods) that I can occasionally get good crisp veggies. I can't wait until I'm back in portland and can find good fresh fruits and veggies. So, OT, don't forget to add Sam's club to the list as it's owned by Sam Wah Ton's family and they follow the same guidelines to infiltrate and destroy.

My cousin has a personal boycott on walmart and we're not allowed to tell her we shop there (and that we bought the formula for the twins there). Apparently it has to do with their lack of allowing unions for their employees and how they hire people for 1 hour less than full time so they don't have to provide health insurance and other benefits for full time employees. Oh and perhaps bill gates and his microsoft empire needs to be on that list too since there are a large number of crappy windows computers sold at walmart and sam's club. And face it, isn't it near impossible for someone as rich as bill gates not to be involved in such a conspiracy? Afterall, such a movement requires funds...

Monkeymd, I'm another person -- and my family -- who boycotts Wal-Mart because of their anti-union position. Not that it makes a hill of beans of difference to Sam Walton, but I feel better about it.

OT,
I've been to Sam's Club.
The one here on Long Island is a dump.

Costco is big here but they not much better than Sam's Club.

One Wal-Mart here. Never been to it. Will have to check it out.

Thanks, Shap, for the info. :o

Am I right in thinking that the company is still privately held by the family, even if the founder has gone to his eternal reward?

Angie,

Wal-Mart is publicly traded but the Walton heirs own the majority of stock.

Here is an article related to them:

Thanks, Shap, for making sure I don't parade my ignorance in public again, at least on that particular topic.

As to the article, well, I don't know whether to laugh or cry. It does not, however, change my mind about not shopping there.
Cheers,
