It sounds like “Wooster and Jeeves,” played by Hugh Laurie and Stephen Fry.
In the “Black Adder” series they were dolts, including the servants! Laurie was also present in many of the “Black Adder” series. He also played “Jasper” in the film version of “101 Dalmatians.”

I know i'm usually a paragraph behind any conversation.

The picture Hidey-Ho brings to me is Cab Calloway in his white suit, doing Minnie the Moocher while waiting for Blues Brothers. That image has stuck for decades. His apotheosis, in my mind.

If it's just a greeting then Hidey Ho y'all !

As I recall (so this statement is NOT to be taken as any indication of reality), in either the first or second episode of Jeeves and Wooster, Bertie is trying to get Jeeves to sing a duet with him, the refrain being "hidey, hidey, hidey, hidey, ho."

Jeeves always ends every statement to Bertie with "suh," and deadpan flat dry delivers the refrain "hidey, hidey, hidey, hidey, ho, suh."

And, much like Victor Borge's humor, it helps if you see it instead of read it.

If you want to see some good vintage Cab Calloway, check out the W.C. Fields film "International House", with Bela Lugosi, Franklin Pangborn, Burns & Allen, an eight-year old Rose Marie, and many more.

Calloway does Reefer Man, and (I think) Minnie the Moocher.

In this film, a lot of almost related stuff happens, there actually is a plot, and there are a lot of laughs!
