Music that you have played

Postby mmichaelson » Wed Jun 02, 2004 4:09 pm

Hearing the First Suite in E-Flat creates such nostalgia in me!
I love hearing music that I've played in the past. It always makes me remember the hard work that went into each performance and makes me happy.
I think the best things that I remember are when we performed The Pines of Rome in a huge cathedral in Austria. The last notes rang in the spires for at least three minutes before finally dying out.
I also had a blast playing an edited version of Copland's Appalachian Spring that created a whole list of solos for me. That was a blast.
I've also played a piece (I can't remember the title) based on Moby Dick - it had a lot of movements and was fun to play!
Does anyone else have favorite pieces that they have played in the past?

I did a fairly mean rendition of "Smoke Gets In Your Eyes" with my cousin's karaoke machine, but I don't suppose that qualifies.

I am in constant awe of anyone who can make music come out of a device that's any more complicated to operate than a radio.

I get a lot of enjoyment out of playing the piano, aside from singing. I don't play it nearly often enough <Ed.:"And who's problem is that?" "Why don't you be a good 'Ed' and go bother Haggis?"> . I play Joplin rags mostly(like Steve Martin playing the banjo - happy music), and a little classical. My technique's horrendous(can't keep my eys off my hands - hard to sight read music that way), but once I've got a piece in my head, I can fool people into thinking I actually know what I'm doing.
