I live on Oahu. There are about 850,000 people on 600 square miles of island. Most of the land is military or agricultural. There is only one freeway into Honolulu, so everyone takes the same route into work in the morning and the same route to go home. I live 11 miles from Waikiki; it can take an hour to get there. Tourists are usually spared such mind-numbing experiences.

If I were to vacation in Massachusetts I would visit Wellesley so I could eat at Blue Ginger. I just read two cookbooks by Ming Tsai and they were very impressive.

Oh man! One hour to drive 11 miles! How are the tourists spared this mayhem if there's only one route. Tell us what your favorite perks are. Many must be envious but if you share with us, we can all participate in your paradise.

What are you doing there?

I'll have to check out Blue Ginger. Didn't know you were familiar with the area, you must have gone to....shall I say (in Church Lady tone)...College of Satan? Can you post a recipe from the book on the BBB Recipe thread for all to enjoy? The more of my senses are involved in the Hawaiian experience the closer to paradise I feel.

Most of the tourists stay IN Waikiki, that's why they don't see the traffic jams.

I used to be the corporate trainer for a company with an office in Honolulu, and I've passed through the city with no consonants. When I went on a road trip, it usually lasted two weeks. So you gotta spend the weekend somewhere, right?

As far as satanic churches, how about the church of Our Lady of the Evening?

Can't find that church by googling but I found some nice bloopers:

- On Sunday, a special collection will be taken to defray the cost of a new carpet. All those wishing to do something on the carpet, please come forward a get a piece of paper.

- The ladies of the church have cast off clothing of every kind and they may be seen in the church basement on Friday.

- Irving Benson and Jessie Carter were married in church on Oct. 24. So ends a friendship that began in school.

- For those of you who have children and don't know it, we have a nursery downstairs.

- The pastor will preach his farewell message, after which the choir will sing "Break Forth Into Joy".

- Thursday at 5pm there will be a meeting of the Little Mothers Club. All wishing to become little mothers will please meet with the minister in the study.

- Today, Christian Youth Fellowship House Sexuality Course, 1pm - 8pm. Please park in the rear parking lot for this activity.

- The music for today's service was all composed by George Friedrich Handel in celebration of the 300th anniversary of his birth.

- Remember in prayer the many who are sick of our church and community.

- The eighth graders will be presenting Shakespeare's Hamlet in the church basement on Friday at 7pm. The congregation is invited to attend this tragedy.

- Don't let worry kill you off - let the church help.

I was just curious about the meaning behind your name. You don't have to change it if you don't want to. Mad John is just fine. Nameless Cipher = one having no influence or value; I doubt that.
