This Weeks Poll... ?!?

I chose to place this thread in Nicole's section of the board for the following reason: This week's poll has left out what I think is the best program of them all...The Three O'Clock Symphony! What a wicked injustice!

I think the prior poll about favorite feature included it, and it placed first or second along with the maintinee feature(s). So this is a competition for third place, I suspect.

You nailed it! We are considering getting rid of the 1 O'Clock Waltz. We get no requests for it and we'd like to spice things up and develop a new feature.

As for Katie's show... we've been trying to come up with ideas FOREVER. Any one have an idea? Post away and let's see what pops up.

Well, other than the Nine Kleine Nachtmusic idea, how about:

1. Before Bedtime Beethoven - A 10 or 11 pm segment perhaps?

2. Still working on a title, but the segment idea is this: Music of the countries, each segment dedicates its slot to a specific country and plays music from composers from that country. Each day you pick a new country until you cycle through the majority of them, then you repeat.

What were the results of "What type of music would you like to see more of?"

Symphony was way up there, so maybe a programmed (post live) symphony series where you play a whole symphony a night at about a certain time? Stipulate that you'll take requests for it, but uh, the same one won't be played all the time.

Perhaps some Piano or brass or wind instrument feature.(Probably not enough interest for this last one though, lesigh. ) Uh, a chronological feaure? Where the pieces have to be done in a given 50 years? This would take work, since requesters and Katie would have to research things, but it'd be fun. This day in history feature? "Request us up something by one of these people who were born or died or had a significant event on this day in history." type of thing.

Uh. What else was on that list of 'Beethoven should play more of...'?

7 O'Clock Wonders of the World

Other segment ideas:

3. Encore at Eight- In this segment, the most requested music of the day is played one more time, providing of course that it does not repeat the previous days segment. In that situation you select the next most requested music.

4. Eight O'Clock Epic- segment for playing one of the extraordinary compositions that stand out above others. (one's that come to mind for me are- The 1812 Overture, Beethoven's 9th, Ride of the Valkyrie's, etc.)

I like OT's Russian Roullete idea as well.

etc..?

Or...perhaps do different periods...Modern Monday, Classical Tuesday, Baroque Wednesday...etc. It will give some of us a chance to get educated on the different styles of "classical" music.
